1979 Soverel 30 $17K
Wow, I can see why you like it! I think that arch is a bit of overkill too, but for that price, I am wondering what's the catch? It may still be there in a month, or if it checks all the boxes, maybe put a deposit on it? Have you seen this one in person, or are you trying to avoid temptation?

I live here in Jax, I'd go lay eyes on it if it would help anyone make a decision.

I haven't researched it yet, but how well made are these boats ? Coastal or bluewater ?

Maybe, but the inside of a boat doesn't age in the sun like the outside (which looks typical of a boat in Florida of that vintage).

(If the arch is too heavy, you could put a heavier anchor and some chain in the bow )

IMO the price is low because few want a "small" boat these days and perhaps fibreglass with foam core puts people off.

OldManMirage: I'd be interested to see this boat in person.

Only you can decide if this is an offshore-capable boat. (People successfully sail the darndest things across oceans!) It is small, so provisioning it for a month's passage might be difficult, a week should be OK. Great static liveaboard and probably good weekend cruiser.

Provisioning for 6 months should not be a problem.

How many thousand pounds of food do you eat in a week?

UPDATE! Bob Perry openly denies that design as his. It's a Jay Benford design.

1977 C&C 36 $25K Canadian (US ~$20K) in Midland, ON (on Georgian Bay).

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-sailboat/bar...ine/1584155285

These are very nice boats. This is fairly old and needs painting, but being a freshwater boat in the Great Lakes also means they get less use and less wear and tear than in the South.

If the engine is good, and the sails are good, this is a good price (although it's not easy to sell a boat in this part of Canada, this time of year.)

I think Bob's response was conceited and very ASSumptive.
The seller may genuinely believe it to be a Perry design.
BTW I really like a lot of Jay Benford's designs.
Tough seagoing boats.

No...but maybe it was the one I was suppose to crew on as a delivery from Santa Cruz, Ca. to Hawaii and the delivery skipper wanted the hull surveyed. Some crazing was found and when tapped gently with an 8 oz. chipping hammer, a chunk of the hull fell out to expose it's deteriorating rebar.
Or maybe it was the one in Guaymas Mexico that had hauled out due to a strange oil like slick that was constantly in the water only to find the bilge oil was migrating through the hull. Have a nice day
