Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds
1999 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42 'Entre Nous' - $16,000
This one looks like a pretty amazing deal. Looking at the bow, there does appear to be some damage to the bottom paint. It's probably going to need a haulout to check it out in addition to the lack of a mast. Be careful, this one might be a scam. There's an e-mail address and no phone number. If you get a reply about the person being in the military or some foreign address with an "agent" with too much 'splaining, watch out. If you do get in contact with the person or do end up purchasing the boat, I'd love to hear the story. It's one of those "Too good to be real" ads.

CS27 $2,500 cdn ($2,000 usd), yanmar, tiller, freshwater, in Toronto Canada (Lake Ontario).
This looks like a good boat at a give-away price. The CS27 is a well known, well made boat with a good reputation.

From the ad:
CS27 for sale.
Great sailing boat and good condition for her age.
Yanmar YSE8 inboard. Starts straight away and runs well.
Sails in good condition.
Origo 4100 stove.

That is a good deal. Looks original except for the interior changes. Looks to be in good shape as well.

... and a Niagra 26 for $4,500 Both seem to be in Oakville, ON.

Not much online about the Niagra 26. It seems nicely setup for $2,000 more.
The CS27 is an early model, with an older Yanmar YSE8 vs the Niagra 26 with a Nissan outboard.

This one looks decent. Good canvas, and exterior wood by the looks of it. Diesel.
I don't much care for the parquet floor and the newer upholstery; the wood carvings and rope work are "interesting". The V-berth needs new covers for the cushions if not new foam. Not a hard home project, though.
I can't make out what the shelf at the forward end of the starboard bench is for. Perhaps a heater?
No apparent anchor or anchoring system, which is odd. I guess it is sailed out of a marina!

Very nice gear and finish though. Looks like someone threw some money at it.
One caution: these are very small boats for their LOA.

SuW: If you find one (or similar) in Canada for half-price or less, let me know ;-)
