The Pinnace, aka the ship's boat, is a tender that has, on occasion been used with such a weapon. Here are some examples. The first one is the Pinnace from the HMS London in 1881.

I thought it was getting close to the minimum, then I found the Greek Patrol Boat from the 1980s.

Of course, there is always square rigged boat, but I rather suspect this is not terribly efficient in terms of the crew servicing the weapon.

A single handed dinghy if you are carrying one of these;

Re: The New Joke Thread

Then there's a punt gun.

And this photo was taken where I learnt to sail - "Hayling Island".

from: https://collections.hampshireculture...toon-hayling-0
(incidentally, I built a plywood kayak and paddled around the same area when I was about 15 (but without the punt gun). .

A reminder: the "The New Joke Thread" is in the Off-Topic forum.
Off Topic Forum
This forum is for stories, jokes & other general topics. Off Topic content should still remain loosely related to boating. (Well, that's my excuse for posting about punt guns )

The Greek Patrol Boat is equipped with a "recoilless rifle" which some will argue is not a "gun".

And likely does not have rifling in its barrel.

If you had a single handed dinghy, wouldn't you just row in a circle?

If I told you that I found the photo while rifling through some old photos, would that help? If I actually used that line, would you recoil in horror at the terrible joke?

It's a105mm Recoilless Rifle which definitely does have a rifled barrel.
(Although the yanks call it the M40 106mm RR)
