I assume this is normal? Any idea how long I need to wait?

Can take several minutes. The AUS set is quite large - more than 600 cells.

Re: OpenCPN General

Apologies in advance if this has been covered.
I'd like to use OpenCPN at the helm running on a Raspberry Pi, but rather than using the 7" touchscreen, I'd like to use an external weather proof touchscreen with high brightness. I found this one:

https://app.alibaba.com/dynamiclink?touchId=62578274422&type=product&schem a=enalibaba%3A%2F%2Fdetail%3Fid%3D62578274422%26ck %3Dshare_detail&ck=share_detail&shareScene=buyer

It has an HDMI port, and 1000 NIT. I'm concerned about the resolution, though. The smallest monitor they make is 15". Will the display driver of the Ras Pi handle it?

Re: OpenCPN General

I feel a bit stupid but definitely annoyed. I was changing chart font size and suddenly the setup menu became handwriting like. (See attached pic!)

For the life of me I cannot change it back! HOW? Please!

zabba...
The font for the Window in your shot is changed by the "Dialog" font.
The "chart font size" you mention may be the "ChartTexts" font. That's the texts on vector charts .

Re: OpenCPN General

IN your opencpn.ini or opencpn.conf file look for

[Settings/MSWFonts]
and scan the list for the problem.

Re: cannot drag old waypoints

I think we had a discussion abut this but I don't remember the status.

I have about a dozen waypoints established previously which need to be moved, but when I right click on a waypoint , click properties, and try to drag it, the whole screen moves, not the waypoint.

New waypoints behave as I expected: when I right click on them and click on properties, I can drag the waypoint.

I know that on previous occasions I was able to do this.

Re: OpenCPN General

You should be able to drag waypoints without opening the properties window.

Not if you have locked them which I think is good practice.

See the settings under Options/Ships/Routes/Points.

Yes, I understand that option, however I have a bunch of waypoints carried over from previous versions (which worked as expected).

I sort of remember that there is some flag or indicator in a file somewhere which is not getting released when the properties box is opened in this release.

Re: OpenCPN General

I'm just getting started with OpenCPN (5.6.0). Successfully installed in on my boat's Mac Mini running 10.12.6 (Sierra) but when trying to install on a MacBook Pro running 10.15.7 (Catalina) on initial launching of the app I get the following error dialog:

"Failed to initialize the user interface

Failed to initialize the user interface. OpenCPN cannot start. The necessary configuration files were not found. See the log file at /Users/.../Library/Logs/opencpn.log for details.

/Applications/OpenCPN.app/Contents/SharedSupport/"

FWIW the log file it says to see is 1 byte long and only contains "1"

Any advice or threads to which one can refer for this?

Thanks

Pat

Pat:
How did you install OCPN 5.6.0 on the Catalina machine?

I guess I would try re-download and install.

Re: OpenCPN General

I'm trying to install OpenCPN latest release to my RPI4 with Rasperry OS 32 bits. I was successful using the Ubuntu repo with "focal" instead of "bionic" But was unable to get the plugins "watchdog" as it doesn't show up after OCPN installation neither after a master pluging catalog update. A lot of other plugins being accessible an operationnals from the master plugin catalog I do not see what I'm doing wrong. My latest attempt was to install OPCN using Flatpak as described in the documentation but I get the following error message:
" flatpak install --user https://dl.flathub.org/repo/appstrea...CPN.flatpakref
error: No such ref 'app/org.opencpn.OpenCPN/arm/stable' in remote flathub "

Any help will be welcome...Many tanks in advance !
