Re: Sat2Chart

I downloaded and installed opencpn on my laptop running Windows 10 but I can barely get the program to start and after that I'm at a loss as to what to do how to use it all the videos seem to be geared for earlier versions that appear much different than the latest version which I have.

killyourguitar,

Try posting on the OpenCPN thread or join the "OpenCPN Users" group on Facebook.

Everything new is confusing, then its not.

Re: Sat2Chart

Hello Paul,
I am very impressed with Sat2Chart and have been trying to download and install it for a couple of days. I have been using your web site and links. I download Sat 2 Chart ok and OORex as well. The problem occurs when I start Sat 2 Chart. I get the error message:
Set Command Failure
Error!
Your virus program may have blocked or quarantined the
OORexx "rxqueue" function
Check your virus program

I have tried to initiate an exception for your web site, the file for the program, the entire OORexx application, Sat 2 Chart, etc. Nothing works, I still get the error message. The only way I make progress is to turn off my virus protection entirely. However when I turn it back on, I get the failure message.
I use AVG Anti Virus Free with only basic coverage - Computer and Web/Email. What am I doing wrong?

Do you know of a fix? Do you have a recommendation of a different anti-virus software? I am not a computer wizard but this has me really stuck .

Any help or advice is so greatly appreciated. Thank you so much
Allen

Re: Sat2Chart

Nauti-Nauti,

This is a common problem with AVG. I don't have it installed but I understand that other users go into AVG and unquarantine the rxqueue and also make an exception for it.

Frankly i don't know why anyone uses anything but Windows Defender.

Re: Sat2Chart

Chuck,

First when you installed GDAL did you take the TYPICAL option. If not uninstall it and reinstall with the Typical option.

If you did then reproduce the problem then send me an email with the Sat2Chart.log attached to it. The log is the same directory that Sat2Chart is installed in and my email is in Help.

Paul

Re: Sat2Chart

Chuck sent the log and I found that when it was Windows 32 bit system my code had an error and didn't recognize that GDAL was installed. The problem is fixed in the next version which will be released soon.

Re: Sat2Chart

Beware SasPlanet Cache: The newer releases of SasPlanet have changed the default cache type to use Sqlite3.

But Sat2chart only support the cache type of "Sas.Planet"

To change the default type open the SasPlanet/Settings/Options/Cache tab and at the bottom make sure the "Default cache type" is set to "Sas.Planet", see the attachment.

I highly recommend that you use my SasPlanet version. See the Sat2Chart/Help/SasPlanet section on how to download and install it.

Re: Sat2Chart

Hi Phil,
I love Sat2Chart and the new mbtiles functionality. Thanks to you!

But I struggle with polygons. If this issue has been discussed elsewhere, my apologies. I searched but didn't find it.

I use Sasplanet and a lot of polygons to wrap tightly around islands. Example:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1R1D...ew?usp=sharing

When I create the mbtiles chart directly within Sasplanet (download tiles, then export as mbtiles), the resulting chart nicely follows the polygon shape. Example Z18 viewed in OpenCPN:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1o67...ew?usp=sharing

But I much prefer creating the mbtiles using your Sat2Chart. More convenient, multi-map support, great naming convention, etc. However, when I export the polygon from Sasplanet as any of KML, KMZ, GPX and then use Sat2Chart, the resulting mbtiles chart is MUCH BIGGER and essentially just a big rectangle enclosing the entire polygon with lots of high res tiles showing the Google fog or other unwanted areas. See example, again Z18:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GUg...ew?usp=sharing

I tried the 3 different polygon file types and both settings for mbtiles creation (Sat2Chart and Sasplanet). The result is always the same.

Is this a known limitation or am I missing some setting? User error?
I downloaded your version of Sasplanet with all the setting and am running on Windows 10 and Sasplanet 200922.10096 Nightly and Sat2Chart V10.0.9.0.

Thanks for your help!
