Re: Sat2Chart

Hakan,

If after restarting Windows you still get this message then there is a problem in Windows 10. Make sure you have all updates to Windows installed. If you still get it there is not much that can be done except reinstalling Windows.

In any case even if the dll does not load you should still be able to create charts , it will just use a slower method to perform the functions in that are in the dll.

Thanks for the update about the Zoom.

Paul

Re: Sat2Chart

Paule.
Yes, Win10 is updated. Lately last week. But it's an old machine. All is working fine on another, slightly newer, Win10 though.

SAT2CHART V8.0.5.0 is fine and no dll error message Also on the old PC
SAT2CHART V11.0.2.0 and up is giving the dll error message.

In version 8.0.5 you used GE2KAP_GDAL_Funcs.dll instead. Are there any fundamental changes apart from the name change?

Re: Sat2Chart

Hakan,

New gdal functions were added to the dll and older versions of Windows cannot handle these new functions so do not load the dll.

If you can't reload Windows then you will have to live with the error message. I have added a lot of code to handle using slower methods to allow you to still create charts.

Re: Sat2Chart

Paul..
The Windows 10 version is 19042 so it would not be the cause but the PC is not of a latest model. And, yes, I can live with the message.

Thanks.

Re: Sat2Chart

Sat2Chart.V11.0.4.0 is now available:
Highlights:
- Overlay support for Google Earth Pro
-- Updated Français.mo , thank you Olivier

Re: the overlay support for Google Earth Pro, I thought this was no longer possible because there was no API and I could not position GE. But I found a way to do it. Another middle finger to Google.

Sorry no CM93 correction information, maybe later if there is a demand. for it.

Here is the link to download:
http://gdayii.ca/Downloads/Sat2Chart.V11.0.4.0.exe

Also there is a a new tutorial: 11. Overlaying Onto Google Earth Pro

Happy New Year

Sat2Chart.V11.0.5.0

Seems there is a demand for the CM93 correction information so this version will create and display it.

http://gdayii.ca/Downloads/Sat2Chart.V11.0.5.0.exe

The tutorial and Help section "Overlaying Onto Google Earth Pro" have been updated.

Re: Sat2Chart

Following Tutorial 11, I'm getting Error: Calibration Failed when I get to click the Create Chart button when trying to create a chart from Google Earth Pro (latest version). I also have the latest Win 10, OpenCpn 5.+, Sat2Chart 11.0.4.0.
The file Sat2Chart_pi.dll did not come in the installation package, and is not created by Sat2Chart on opening, or by Check.rex. Win file explorer can not find it or similar. I installed some of the earlier versions of Sat2Chart, but can't find it there either.
GE2KAP plugin is installed and loaded on OpenCPN.
Any suggestions?
Maelruan

Further to above, I have now updated to Sat2Chart 11.0.5.0 and I am getting the same error.

Re: Sat2Chart

The plugin is called ge2kap_V17_pi.dll and should be in the OpenCPN's plugins directory and if its not its in the Sat2Chart.V11.0.4.0 directory.

BTW I suggested you install Sat2Chart.V11.0.5.0

Re: Sat2Chart

If the ge2kap_V17_pi.dll is installed and enabled, then I suggest reproduce the problem and send me the Sat2Chart.log as an attachment to an email. My email is in the Help.

Re: Sat2Chart

Thanks Paul for the Sat2Chart log hint. I found the problem there. I like to keep all my charts in a sub folder in the OpenCPN folder under Program File (86) which Sat2Chart would not write to, and the Error followed that in the log. I changed the "save to" folder to the Temp folder under Sat2Chart and it worked.
Many thanks for your help.

Re: Sat2Chart

Hmmm, Glad you found the problem but I don't think you should use the temp directory of Sat2Chart. Why not just create a separate directory for the charts.

Re: Sat2Chart

OpenCpn also picks up the Kap files Sat2Chart created after I manually move them to the chart folder under OpenCPN in Program Files (86) from the temp Sat2Chart folder.
I like to keep all the OpenCPN nav stuff close together because there are so many changes due to updates & improvements which are easier to find that way. I find the Win 10 Program Files/Program Data structure is very awkward and brought in unnecessary complications and duplication.

I have got the variable transparency feature between GE & CM93 working, and I find it brilliant!! Large new marina developements now show on my screen, and land marks can now be relied on. And I can say that trying to get into a newly built harbour in thick fog relying on GPS with no radar can now be done with greater confidence.
Many thanks,
Maelruan
