sat2chart kap images low resolution

I've been trying to create several kap files using sat2chart 8.0.1.0 and google earth 7.1.2.2041. These are being displayed on O 5.0.0+9065270.

I've made several kap files with GE2KAP V30.0.1.0 and the same version of GE.

The problem I'm having is that even though the GE resolution is high, the kap charts displayed in O are rather low res. The older versions of charts I made with GE2KAP didn't have this issue.

Has something changed? Is there a fix?

I think you should contact Whitey, perhaps by

1. responding to one of these GE2KAP Threads
2. responding to one of these SAT2CHART threads (the bigger one)
and perhaps looking through to see if he has responded. I do not recall his login id and have searched on likely ones. Post a reference to your question in this thread, someone will know.

The resolution of the charts created depends of course on the height of GE. Also, Kap charts can only have 127 colors while the GE image can have 1000s so there will be a loss of quality.

Why not create mbtiles instead of kaps. They have no loss of color quality.

I’ll try the tiles!!

It may be coincidental but when making Kaps of Rikitea, I discovered that if I switched google earth to the 2006 imagery instead of the 2019 imagery the resolution matched what I was seeing on O.

I’ll do some more experimenting tomorrow and take some screen grabs.
