In this price category, I find you more-or-less self-insure for the boat value (large deductible or low declared value) and get liability insurance.

I would jump on that boat if I was ready to move aboard. I'm still pairing down and selling off possessions and property so when the time comes, and the right boat shows up, I can pack my trash and go.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

kijiji is blowing up in my area.

I'm looking at a weekender but with 2 kids I need a minimum of space. These two look interesting, look well maintained, price in canadian $:

pearson 30, 1972 for 11k$ https://www.kijiji.ca/v-voilier/vill...81987?uli=true

pearson 30, 1974 for 19k$ https://www.kijiji.ca/v-voilier/vill...974/1577513178
I spoke to the owner of the 11k$ Pearson and it looks like it's going to be sold by the end of the weekend

And this one I'm lusting over but I'm thinking it might be a bit too lively for my use.

Beneteau First class 12, 1987, 25k: https://www.kijiji.ca/v-voilier/vill...987/1578556497

"les voile sont passablement usé" can probably be translated to absolutely needs new sails

Anybody got experience with the first 12? Rough budget for sails?

Opening bid is listed as $5. I'm not kidding.

Of course, it won't sell for that, but nonetheless...

That one is 30 minutes away from me.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

Good evening, everyone

I'm looking at that 1981 Hardin a few pages back. Does anyone know how they were constructed? Eg. Are they cored hulls or solid fiberglass? I didn't see a compression post under the deck-stepped mast so how is it being supported?

I searched all over the internet and couldn't find anything. Should I start up a new thread?

The price has gone down drastically on this boat. He must be desperate.

Here is everything I know about Hardin boats. https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/hardin-4445

The masts could be keel stepped and hidden in a wall out of sight. If they are deck stepped, then there has to be a bulk head or structural beam supporting it and the deck.

Anyone know why the thread was locked this morning?
