This California vessel seems to be a well cared for example of these classic cruisers with the gear to make her pretty much ready to go.

Key will be the condition and integrity of her teak deck.

Recent upgrades include:
Chainplates replaced Nov 2018
Thru hulls (5) replaced Nov 2018
New Bottom paint Nov 2018
New Holding tank gauge installed December 2018
Lifelines replaced Jan 2019
Exhaust Risers repaired Jan 2019
Bilge Pump replaced Jan 2019
Cushions replaced Nov 2018
Marine stereo replaced April 2020
Microwave New Jan 2019
Anchors and rode renewed Nov 2018
Swim ladder refurbished 2019
New marine head installed 2018

No mention or photos pf the engine (or sails.) I suspect that is the reason for the low price, or one of the reasons. It's all about the engine.

I'm not noticing a jump, but my searches have focused on project boats and the less expensive older vessels. I couldn't tell you if the more upscale boats have jumped in price.

Yep. Not just the teak decks, but the cap rails, hatches, especially the butterfly hatch, cockpit, ports and anything attached to the deck.

I'd be prepared to bet there are leaks; I knew someone who worked on one of these for a couple of years to get rid of all the leaks.

That being said, they are nice-looking boats and comfortable liveaboards.

I would say not in boats $30K and under. The instant gratification crowd spend $80K and upwards to $200K. Those boats have gone up moderately and I have heard that the inventory is down to almost nothing right now. In a year from now, it will most likely be a different story for the upper end. but the $30K and under will remain untouched and unaffected.

I've got a friend who works in a Danish factory manufacturing drive systems for boats , he says they have never been so busy , I guess that the new boat market is very vibrant at the moment

How about my old boat, I think it meets the guidelines for this thread.

There is no question that there has been a huge increase in demand for some segments of the boating industry, with the result of tightened supplies being higher prices. This seems most pronounced in sales of new power boats. Lots of articles in the press about this with solid data to back them up. New and newer production sailboats seem to be seeing the same trend, but maybe not as strong.

I don't have any data for older sailboats, but from reading the ads I don't see a seller's market or jump in prices. There are plenty of boats sitting on the market for months, maybe years, as there normally are. It looks like the usual, illiquid, market to me. The older the boat, and the lower the price, the more seems to be the case.

Yep, I agree with this. I'd say the really old boats are getting a little more interest now, but that's from a base of zero interest!

Basically, if it floats, has a decent engine and sails, you could probably get it cheaply and fix everything else. If you have the time...

Thanks for posting your boat!
Imo, a very fair price and a responsible owner.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

This “52’ cutter” is a good example of why LOA is such a poor measure of boat size.

It may well be 52’ LOA, but is likely no more than 46’ LOD, if that. She orobably has a canoe stern or deeply pinched transom. Look at the way the engine is mounted, hung down into the bilge. Space wise this boat is more like a modern 38’ to 40’ boat. That is not a bad thing, it is just the 52’ in s deceptive and probably hurts the chances of the boat being sold. $10k for a 40’ boat sounds a lot better than $10k for a 52’ boat.

Pretty boat, I would not want it.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

With a decent survey, it would be a good purchase. It has a lot of top quality gear.
