Oregon getting a wee wet..

Looks like Oregon trying to use our boats for commuting. What's going on up there?

Re: Oregon getting a wee wet..

Since I won't be up on the boat until late next week, called one of my neighbors and he reported nothing too serious on Hayden Island. Seems most of the rain was west of Portland. Hope all are well in the Astoria area.

Re: Oregon getting a wee wet..

I drove through that area on my motorcycle just a few weeks ago. It was soggy and stormy then as well. Tillamook had already seen some flooding. In fact I had to detour around the town just to get through it.

The whole west coast from BC to northern California seems to be getting unseasonably wet and cold weather. Even inland here in Nevada the temperatures are running five to ten degrees C colder than normal -- not good news since I'm trying to camp along the way .

yes it is! The water in Longview is way way up with lots of trash. I actually walk down hill from my dock down to land. Bird feeders are under water.............

A few pics. The birds will need scuba gear to get to their feeders. The feeders are on Sheppard hooks and are 5' tall

Re: Oregon getting a wee wet..

I hope it keeps raining here. We like to time our return to So.Oregon with the rainfall. Our yard suffers if we return too late in May, a wet year is great. That works well with the temps in the tropics, as that's when it's too hot down there.

Please send more of those storms south to NorCal.

My ramp on Hayden Island is very easy to get up, 10 more feet and it will be level. Lots of rain still coming.

Re: Oregon getting a wee wet..

My ramp on Hayden Island is almost horizontal. Wednesday we had 2.75" of rain at PDX, the most in recorded history. We are already well past the normal December rainfall. I-5 north of Vancouver, WA has been closed northbound due to landslides. Elsewhere there are road closures from landslides and washouts - not unusual but the sheer numbers are impressive. I am definitely suffering from cabin fever.

We are getting a lot of snow in the mountains, which we desperately need, so no complaint. As long as the freezing level is down I can forgive the rain here - just hate to have it not stick as snow for summer water.

Re: Oregon getting a wee wet..

In Coos Bay today with flood watches for Coquille River. Lost Creek Lake near Medford is getting replenished and filling.
A lot of flash flood watches. We needed it.

Re: Oregon getting a wee wet..

Yes we did need it. I nearly wept last summer seeing Detroit Lake empty when there should have been boats everywhere. Let it rain...
