Specifically, as a safety feture, set a 200m boundary to the coast line, and another at 300m. With the ability to send out an alert.

Cheers,

Hi Mpep,

Watchdog could be a response to your question.

This pluging can send an alert set a nn meters from the shore.

Re: Feature Requests

Watchdog land alert uses the background continental outline, so you should download and install the high resolution version! Making a border also works for specific areas.

Re: Feature Requests

When I go to the Chart Downloader and add a Path and click 'okay', can we automate the 'update' portion instead of having to click that manually? The update could be more of a refresh functionality then.

Also, is it possible in the Chart Downloader section to Sort the Charts (Title, Status, Latest) ? The headers are already there, there's just no sort functionality. I use this to see which charts more most recently updated.

Also, as idea -- in the main menu, if you right-click to have an option 'download chart for this area' which brings you to the chart downloader and shows the available maps for the specific area where the user right clicked.

In the Chart Downloader section, is it possible to add in a search filter to reduce the listed charts? If you selected the USA ENC All, there's 1234 charts which makes it really cumbersome to locate the right chart for your specific area. I understand I could update the sources to only include a specific state, but still - for CA there's 77 maps remaining for which a filter-search option would be super.

Would it be possible to add download size to the Chart Downloader - Charts table? There's already Title, Status and Latest (but all unsortable unfortunately).

Or to be superfancy a 'first trip' plugin that lets you select your voyage (point A to point B), automatically downloads the most detailed maps and leverages from Weather and other plugins showcasing the OpenCPN (and plugin) functionality?

Also, in the Chart Downloader menu -- When I have clicked a few charts to download -- would it be possible to have a Download reminder pop-up for when i click OK or Apply instead of Download charts?
And thank you for the already fantastic program as it is!

Feature Requests

If we did your first request then it would be cumbersome to add multiple chart groups because you would have to wait for each one to download before adding another group. So I think it would make some (most?) users unhappy. But you are free to add your requests to the feature request/bug tracker system at https://opencpn.org

Nearly all of the other requests would mean having to already download the charts because the geolocation data is in the chart files themselves. OpenCPN cannot know the location of a chart unless we download the chart file first and open it. I think this sort of defeats the purpose of your idea.

The last idea would not be too hard to do i think.

Hi,
I'm working on something like that but currently it's slow and there's no executable for testing you have to compile it yourself. it's in
https://github.com/did-g/OpenCPN.git

Should compile on linux and windows, may work on windows. you must use only plugin compiled with this branch (grib_pi, ocpn_draw_pi, weather_routing_pi).

first you select a ring size and number of ring in boundary point tab ocpn_draw preferences dialog box, I'm using 1 and .1 nautical. It's for dangers and some boy, beacon and so on.

there's a new button in ocpn draw plugin layout manager 'S57 Quilt to layer'. it generates exclusion zones (a lot) for the visible chart view using your group charts set and safety depth setting.

Did I say it's slow as is unusable? cap_cod gpx is 30 MB, very hard on ocpn_draw_pi.

Next faster and oesenc_pi.

BTW Using a VFS for plugin would help for a lot of stuff.

Re: Feature Requests

Anyone has decent charts of the Suez Canal?

Thanks.

Re: Feature Requests

Set transparency between chart groups - with OpenCPN, I'm using chart groups to separate out Google Earth KAP charts from other sets of charts. I would like the ability to display Google Earth KAP charts over top of another chart group by setting a transparency slider on Google Earth. This would show both charts together.

Note, GE2KAP supports combining two charts, though that's not that useful when considering the different sets of charts, grouped into chart groups, that would benefit from a Google Earth overlay.

I think it would be great to select the two groups and see the charts at the same time, without having to manually make each one.

Thanks!
Don

What do you need? Its a ditch and you have a pilot--CM93 works just fine.

Re: Feature Requests

For example the second parallel canal in wide parts of the Suez Canal existing now?
The pilot will not be amused when you drag through the dunes on your plotter...

Have you ever been through there?

Re: Feature Requests

When I went through it was follow the leader in a convoy of sailboats. The pilot drove my boat except for prayer breaks.

OPTIONS > CONNECTIONS > DEBUG WINDOW

OpenCPN v 4.8.0 Debug Window

We need to have the COPY nmea0183 feature back.
It has been removed from the program. Please See

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post2535304

Also VDR play should have much better controls for debugging.
Step by Step for each sentence.
Ability to select where to start.
Ability to speed up and slow down.
Ability to stop the stream and and send just one selected sentence to Opencpn.

It should have all the same controls as the Grib_pi player....could even use the same icons.

But the first thing we need is the ability to copy NMEA data from the Nmea Data "Window" which is a LOST FEATURE!!!

Thanks.
