Re: Broken Lagoon

Here's an interesting vid on the build of the new Seawind 1370. Vinylester, foam core, carbon fiber and wait for it....bulkheads tabbed and glassed in.

A well played lawsuit could get them banned from selling in the US. That would not be an easy financial pill to swallow.

Yep- very well built and you will pay for that quality. These are probably 30-50% more than comparable Lagoon.

I dunno about that. A 45' SW1370 is $699,000 base price. Lagoon won't list their price but the 2020 and 2021 models offered on YW are more and some are asking a lot more.

Re: Broken Lagoon

Here's another vid from Ruby Rose. At the very end there's a short segment on their new Seawind 1370 build. He does mention Parley's boat and details about the bulkheads on the new Seawind.
Colin finally finished the bulkhead fix on the Lagoon but he still has to put everything back together. The newest vids are from April so maybe he's done by now.

The trouble is the charter companies are soaking up everything lagoon build. Hence there is little incentive

I've been binge watching Parlays channel, having just found it last week.

With the amount of Lagoon owners that are coming forward after checking their own boats, it'll be interesting to see how this plays out. The thing that I found even more shocking than the design flaw, was the shoddy workmanship. Especially the glue on the deck supports that hadn't even been disturbed when the decks were married to the hull at the factory. The two parts of the boat hadn't even touched one another leaving the glue to dry exactly as it was squeezed out of the gun.

Re: Broken Lagoon

In my experience all this cost savings is in most cases NOT passed on to the consumer. It is intended for higher corporate profits. Every quarter is expected to increase profits which is ultimately unrealistic. So companies push it to the limits and eventually the brand comes crashing down.

Lagoon can pretty much charge whatever they want right now. People are eating up thier products regardless of the quality.

They probably ought to enjoy it while it lasts, because with all of this coming to light, and the power of the internet, I can't see it lasting much longer.

Charter companies don’t care. They make up a huge percentage of lagoons customers.

Equally many cats are very lightly used and more then likely won’t show the issue.

I don’t see it gaining traction, lagoon will no doubt in time beef up things a bit and claim there is no issue

This seems like a group wide quality issue. Don't know when they started but the monohulls are glued together also.

Don't charter companies rely on either people buying the boat and placing it in charter or buying the boat from them at the end of it's use as a charter boat? If nobody is buying a lagoon new or used, the charter companies may move away from the brand.

Im not sure how well the charter business is fairing right now. Seems like a lot of countries are still locked down with travel bans in place.

No most of those schemes have died away.

Here in Greece the charter companies have targeted Eastern Europe and Russian etc. They are looking at a good season

Cats are in big demand. In my marina they’ve proliferated like rabbits. Charter companies are moving from monos to vat in some numbers
