The photos of the boat show a very nice looking boat, that appears exemplary for this model. This boat was owned by a CF Member and previously advertised in the CF Boats for Sale classifieds section. Asking Price at that time was $20K.

The photos show the love and care and very nice refit done by the previous owner (details I viewed on his blog).

While this particular boat has sold recently, I think this is such a good example that it may help someone looking for a similar boat in the future.

I am sharing it here because this model of boat fits this thread's concept and because the Mariner boats are occasionally seen for sale.

I like what I see in the photos.

Seems underpriced, the listing describes the aggressive price as being due to needed maintenance. but doesn't sound too bad; deck leaks, possible soft spots, cabin sole, exhaust hose and a squirrel came aboard and did some damage.

That could be a great cruiser for that price.

This William Crealock designed double ender will likely appeal to a cruiser looking for a smaller "blue water boat" styled on more traditional (1970s concepts) lines. Crealock placed emphasis on seaworthy safety over speed.

Noteworthy are:
1. Double ended hull design, 30 feet LOD
2. Full keel, cast iron.
3. Bowsprit (about 5'), adds to marina expense.
4. Heavier displacement (may be a slow boat).
5. Shallow Draft = 4' 8"
6. Good Headroom = 6' 4"
7. Designed as a Cutter Rig
8. Reported as "heavy fiberglass hull"
9. The name includes the words "8 Ton" and that is explained below in comments by an owner.
10. May be rather slow (est. 5-6 knots), see the SA/D. One owner reported he never saw 8 knots, which is not surprising.

The photos of the boat I saw (linked below) show a nice looking boat, in what appears to be good condition. As with any boat, a survey is a good idea. Caveat Emptor.

Sounds like a very cool boat, but steel from '76 and at that price? Really seems too good to be true.

I was looking at steel boats that size in Florida last year and that is a phenomenal list price, especially for a professionally built boat. I looked at boats listed for $40k that were unabashed 'projects' and sold for more than $20k. Almost want to borrow a car and drive out their to look at this thing!

Reviewing the pictures: there is water damage to the wood around the companionway and at least one of the bulkheads is delaminating. Some black spots on the floor, so she's definitely had water inside, probably fresh. Wonder what the bilge looks like...
