Re: Feature Requests -BSP/AWA/AWS calibration, accurate TWD/TWA/TWS??

My wind sensor is off by about 5 degrees and has some non-linearity due to upwash from the main. The paddlewheel is quite non-linear, needing varying amounts of correction at different boatspeeds. The compass offset can be set, so I'm pretty confident in HDG. The goal is to get accurate TWA/TWD/TWS outputs, which I can't currently do.

What would it take to add the ability to set a directional offset for AWA and tables for BSP and AWS so that they are corrected and derived values like TWA/TWD/TWS will also be correct?

This could be done in the Tactical plugin, but that appears to be downstream of the logic that captures the inputs HDG/BSP/AWA/AWS.
Mostly is it best to calibrate those values in the wind and boat speed instruments themselves. Calibrating out non-linearity however, is going to be difficult anywhere.

Re: Feature Requests

You may check the wind instrument installation. Most are on a stick in front of the mast to avoid those upwash you mentioned.

Re: Feature Requests

If these have been addressed, forgive me and point me in the right direction.
Is there an option to change my vessel color? And, a way to change the color of a route when it's activated?
Thanks in advance.

calm...
1) Yes you can change the icon for the ship.
2) No no user interface for route colors.

Thanks, Hakan. One thing the manual doesn't mention is you have to restart OpenCPN for change to take effect.

Re: Feature Requests

Running OpenCPN from a shared folder (OneDrive or similar) should be great to have just one installation. But running in different computers means different "ini" files. Should be possible to declare the "ini" file in the CLI (command line)?
All the best sailors.

In this scenario you should run it in portable mode (wih -p parameter) to get what you ask for, in that case the ini file is next to the executable and all your instances will share the same file. Wish you good luck with the consequences of modifying data on two different machines at the same time of course.

Thanks for the answer. I'm using -p off course. The feature requested is to have the possibility to select in the CLI the "ini" file for each execution.
Running in two computers at the same time should be solver with my proposal.

If you don't want the shared data, run it without the -p switch.

Thanks, it's a solution but don't let me select the data folder.

If you for some reason are not happy with the location where data is stored, place it anywhere else and create a symlink.
