That's usually the problem.
It looks like there were no fasteners thru the flange(s) of the seacock(s)?
If not, those installations were sub-par and would never have passed a rigid survey nor ABYC specs.
As an aside, there are lots of bronze cannon on display at various museums that were recovered after 100s of years underwater.
They cleaned up just fine.
