Sweet looking boat, & I bet she ain't slow. But too much $ for me at present. Though if her owner needs a hired gun...

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

brownsoarsman and others following this thread, thanks for your interest in how the Edel 35 purchase panned out.

Well, it was an odd purchase, across the country, through brokers that I shall just say, didn't seem to be all that "invested" in the sale, making things awkward. I opted to waive the survey and buy the boat "as is".

After driving across country I got to lay eyes on the girl...I was committed...guess I could've walked away losing my deposit...but took a better part of the day poking around...worst thing initially is what I expect would be pretty expected of a boat not being used in the tropics...a fair bit of mold.

I sealed the deal, and at the same time got a message my mom broke her arm and was in the ER. I only had a month to work on the purchase, and to do what I could with the boat, and this cut about a week into that time.

Sadly, I documented my clean up efforts with my brand new i phone 6, which decided to freeze up shortly after cleaning the bridgedeck and the hull decks...and lost the pix...bummer...that was some of the most impressive dirt (mold?) on the decks...it looked like a really bad case of diarrhea with just a bit of soap and water...but scrub as I did, and you would be shocked at the difference. Bridgedeck cabin cleaned up quited nicely actually, with the worst part being the carpeting on the wall disintegrating when you rub up against them.

I didn't get a chance to haul the boat, diver gave it a pretty clean bill of health.

Shroud U bolt had one broken leg, so that occupied a bunch of my time trying to jury rig that for the move. Yamaha 25 hp didn't like to start after warm so that was a real hassle...

But all considered and the price of the boat...all happy...it will serve as a part time commuter cruiser for florida, cuba, caribbean etc., and I will be happy not having a huge heap of $$$ sitting out there...

If any of you folks know of good marine folks in the Tampa area, I am looking for folks to do work for me...theres plenty to be done...interior stuff...glasswork...paint...electrical...etc...jus t send me a PM if you have any recommendations....

Lets see if I can post a few pix...cheers and good luck to all you folks...

unfortunately it looks like I can just post 1 pix??? so I will also direct you to a new user group I started for Edel Catamaran owners (and enthusiasts) at...I will post more pix there...if you know any owners please send them our way!

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

congratulations on getting as much done as you did. looks miles better already. Not sure about the large expanse of mirrors. I once checked out a Prout 40 ft that had a disco light ball in the center of the roof. Owner claimed he seldom went sailing.

Congrats on getting her, I'm very jealous, had I been anywhere near there I would have jumped on it.

I did an informal survey for the current owner of this boat about 2 months ago.

I also have the ability to perform the needed repairs should anyone be interested

From the ad:

"The starboard ama was damaged and repaired with unsatisfactory materials prior to my purchasing the boat. The area covers a large section of the midship starboard ama"

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

The boat was heavily damage in Katrina. Repairs were not done satisfactorily to prevent additional leakage and rot.

Katrina was 12 years ago! That's about the extent of any details I want to provide to the general public.

The seller seems very honest and is advertising more flaws than I'd suggested.

Boat is very repairable but a large project.
