Re: squiddio plugin

Please be advised, I believe I used the wrong branch of squiddio to build this plugin. I am finding out from Jon Gough which one to use. I am sorry for any confusion.
The one compiled below does not have the menu that Jon has shown below in Post #163, which allows choice of ODraw OD textpoints (a big improvement).

I hope to soon have the correct version built for tests.

I suspected so. This is the version on the macOS that I installed. It’s been working fine.

Well, actually I was wrong about that as it turns out. Jon Gough has advised that Squiddio v1.0.5 does work properly with the longer Preferences Menu which has the Renderer option "ODraw Textpoint" . So I must have incorrectly downloaded and tested the wrong plugin somehow.

In any case, Squiddio v1.0.6 should be an improvement, on v1.0.5 and I would appreciate it if the macOS and linux versions were tested so that we can release this for the OpenCPN website download.

When I am advised that the macOS version and the linux versions install and work as expected, this new version will be included in the Opencpn Downloads page for others to use.

Thank you.

PS: Please note that for this version Jon Gough has provided the option to utilize ODraw Textpoints instead of Route Waypoints, provided that Ocpn_Draw v1.6.4 or > is installed too. This achieves the goal of keeping navigation waypoints for that purpose and having the ODraw Textpoints available through the Ocpn_Draw Manager, under "ODpoints" Tab. See the screenshots below please.

PSS: Please ignore the Squiddio-Plugin_1.0.1.pkg as I have not figured out what line in the code creates that. I will be deleting shortly it if no one advises what version it actually is.

PSSS: Once this is tested we will make a PR to Mauroc's repository or Jon Gough will.

Re: squiddio plugin

Hi Rick,

Installs and works just fine. However, it doesn't display the Squiddio icon for boat yards. I'm not sure the previous version did either.

Re: squiddio plugin

Thanks SCarns, Tomorrow I will see if this is the case for Windows too, and then see how we can fix it.

Re: squiddio plugin

I don't know if you mean "Marinas", but those should work fine.

Re: squiddio plugin

Like I said, I don't know that it's ever been correct, but on Squiddio, there's an icon for shipyards. It's the "ramp" icon, but in green. It doesn't show in OpenCPN.

Screen shot of Google Maps from Squiddio shows the Ventura Boat Yard with icon. OpenCPN shows a waypoint circle.

Not really a critical thing, but I did notice it.

Re: squiddio plugin

SCarns, thank you. You are right, I've found the symbol ramp_grn.png missing from the path C:\Users\Rick\Documents\GitHub\squiddio_pi\src\ima ges
so perhaps it is not in mauroc's folder either.

Will try to update this and make another release.

Re: squiddio plugin

Its not that simple. Code has to be added through out the squiddio_pi.cpp.
Have drafted a rough set of changes for this. More later.

Re: squiddio plugin

this was definitely an omission in the original code and I have just fixed it in version 1.04 on https://github.com/mauroc/squiddio_pi so that now the Boat Yard icon shows correctly.

I hope where ever you were, you had a great time. But, I'm glad you are back.

Built this on my Mac running Mojave and it loads and works great. New icon is as it should be. Thanks!

Also, I sent an email to info@squiddio notifying that, while you were gone, I tried multiple times to add new locations, resulting in duplicates. Assume that is the correct procedure and you'll get to it. If not, let me know and I'll do whatever the correct procedure is.

Steve

No sweat! you followed the correct procedure, it's just that the new POI submission process on squiddio needs to be greatly improved and streamlined (i.e. it should flag duplicate submissions as you enter them). Also not sure we need an approval process for new submissions by qualified users (such as registered plugin users)....This is probably mostly back-end work (on squidd.io), with limited implications for the plugin itself.

I will delete you duplicates manually

Boat yard is fixed, but it appears as if it was at the expense of boat ramp?

That's what I have. The ramp used to be a Blue icon that matches the boat yard (which is green).
