Release 4.1.1301

Notes:

This Beta is a Release Candidate. Only very minor changes are anticipated before the Production Release of O4.2.

Please check your favorite corner cases without mercy. Break it if you can. Submit crash reports if you find them.
Also, don't forget to have a look at the international translations provided generously by all the crowdin project members.

Finally, lets keep in mind always that there are many thousands of O4 users in the wild, and many will eventually upgrade to O4.2. We want no serious regression problems, and want the upgrade to be as smooth and intuitive as possible. So think like a relatively in-experienced user as you put this RC through its paces. Is it less satisfying in any way? Is any part of the User Experience a step backwards?

Thanks, and Good Luck
Dave

Re: OpenCPN RC 4.1.1301 Release

Hello Dave,

As said yesterday evening, nice gift that the new beta for the first day of the year.

And happy new year.

With my Lenovo U41 W 8.1.

I've had time to carry out some tests with this new beta.
First remark concerning the new icons to the toolbar. They do not become blurred, if the enlarges, using the cursor through the options. It is very good.

By cons, icons plugins, such as the grib plugin, dashboard, IACFlee, VMM, which I tested, become blurred.

In this regard the icons in the plugin window Grib even noticed, they become blurred due to the use of the cursor options. I guess it's the same with all internal icons of all plugins.

Chartdownloader :
I preferred the old way, automatic, set the download folder charts. However, this plugin seems to work fine. Test conducted with raster Argentina and Brazil, and with the ENC a US state. No problem.

On the charts of the Netherlands, I saw that we can download some raster charts. But it seems to me that they are really old. The resulting charts date from 01/01/2000. Can we still trust them?

Re: OpenCPN RC 4.1.1301 Release

I want to try NV-Verlag plugin.

The version of NV-Verlag plugin, downloadable from the website of O, on this page, is it the latest version?

Re: OpenCPN RC 4.1.1301 Release

Dashboard is not saving which panels to activate.
Win10, VS2013.
Having two instrument panels both are always viewed after program restart regardless if one is hidden on O shut down.
Method to reproduce:
1 Make two instrument panels.
2 Click tools icon to open Dashboard - both panels are shown.
3 Right click in panel 1 to open properties. Uncheck panel 2 to hide it.
4 Close and restart O - Only instrument panel 1 is activated.
5 Click Dashboard icon to close Dashboard.
6 Close and restart OCPN
7 Click Dashboard icon to activate and both panels are again activated.
8 Repeat 3, 5, 6 and 7.

I confirm that the dashboard does not function properly.
I just created a new dashboard, knowing that there already was one. The old dashboard is no longer displayed and only the new displays.

The check box of the old dashboard is not checked. This explain why the old dashboard no longer displays.

Re: OpenCPN RC 4.1.1301 Release

Operation IAC Fleet plugin.
I tried to download the NOAA area north Atlantic and Europe.
A first window opens and closes very quickly and impossible to know what it is. Then a second window opens announcing that it is impossible to save the text file.

Moreover, not download files from the Brazil area. The plugin's response is aberrant because I am at my home with a good web connection.

Re: OpenCPN RC 4.1.1301 Release

Mouse click to center disabled after Open Draw(OD) boundaries right click.
Win10.
I'm not sure If this issue is own by OD(Jon) or O(Dave) but reported here anyhow.

A mouse left click is normally used to center the chart.
After a right click on a OD boundary (no need to make a left click in the box) the chart center function is disabled.
Another right click on the chart canvas will restore the center function.

1 Right click on a OD boundary. (Select a function and goto 3 or goto 2)
2 Left click on the chart canvas to close OD preferences box.
3 Left click on the chart canvas to center - nothing happens.
4 Right click on chart canvas. (Select a function or not.)
5 Left click to center - works, sometimes after a short spinning mouse. (Also close and restart O will of course restore the function.

Re: OpenCPN RC 4.1.1301 Release

With VisitMyHarbour raster charts, No difference between "day light", "lighting dusk" and "night light".

But "F5" works with CM93 or with USA S57 or with Brazil raster charts

Re: OpenCPN RC 4.1.1301 Release

F6

If memory serves, with O 4.0, F6 only worked if we had openGL "ON".

I notice that on my lenovo U41 F6 works with OpenGL "ON" or OpenGL "OFF". It's good.

After using F6, i have two windows, one is black but impossible to display this window. I can only chutdown the black window by chuting down O.

Re: OpenCPN RC 4.1.1301 Release

With O4.0, the F4 key to enter or exit the mode "road Creation".

With 0411301, it does not work properly. The "Stop Freer road" is not present in the context menu obtained by "Right click".

With 411301, The "-" button decreases the zoom properly but the "+" key has no effect. Idem with Ctrl "-" and "Ctrl "+"

On my Lenovo, the keys "PageUp" and "PageDown" decreases and increases the zoom level.

Re: OpenCPN RC 4.1.1301 Release

OSX Yosemite 10.10.5

Chartdownloader 1.2
When trying to change the charts directory through Options-> Plugins-> Preferences Select a Folder.
After changing the directory, control is not given back to OpenCPN.
So the OpenCPN is locked and unusable.

Re: OpenCPN RC 4.1.1301 Release

Noticed that the included Help documentation through the About OpenCPN
window is not the latest documentation as on the OpenCPN.org page.

Dave.

Has the way you treat opengl changed. Just found that when I have opengl enabled my cm93 charts will not load. Switch off opengl and the charts load. Had a quick check and it is also the same on the previous beta. OPENGL WORKED FINE on the 3.x releases. Can not be sure if I have been using it on any of the 4.x releases.

In transit back to the boat the next few days. Will experiment a bit tomorrow to see if I can understanding the causes.

HP PAVILION LAPTOP, 6GB RAM, INTEL CELERON AND CURRENTLY win10. (UBUNTU AND WIN 7 TBA)

Kevin

Ps the Android version is very stable for me these days. Especially now I no longer have any rooted devices..... Will update the other side later :-)
