Downloaded and installed on Windows 7 64 bit in Windows XP virtual mode, all good, CM93 charts dont show all detail though, is there some way to turn on more layers?

There is a detail setting in the tools menu for increasing the detail displayed at various zoom levels.

In the toolbox select vector charts and check soundings box and set cm93 detail slider to 5. ( i have also selected Track icon on, wheel mouse and GPX icon on in the etc page)

Back in chart view the icon with A next to the toolbox icon switches on and off the chart text.

Hi,

I've just compiled 1.3.6 on Fedora from CVS. This new release is MUCH quicker and more responsive while working on CM93 maps. (I'm using an aspire one netbook). Zooming in and out is super smooth.

Thanks alot...

Kind regards
Johan

Hi
Just to report that the hot-keys list in the help file is wrong :
F7/F8 replaced by F2
F10/F11 replaced by F7/F8

F11 open grib dialog on my system . Is it a new hot-key ?

Result from first test (Linux)

Just went on my boat testing your last version, here after few comment:
  • Integration of CM93 slider is great
  • You now supports SEATALK. RayMarineGSP's data coming through a SEATALK/RS232 converter mixed with many other datas (wind, speed, ...) are correctly decoded (cf: NMEA GLL message)
    • $IIGGA,,4743.711,N,00322.377,W,1,09,1,-4,M,,,,*36
    • $IIGLL,4743.711,N,00322.377,W,,A*2C
    • $IIHDG,227,,,2,W*35
  • Fail to handle mix GPS+AIS messages from Navicom RT650: While OpenCPN understand AIS messages coming from my VHF (Navicom RT650). It fails to get combine GPS+AIS messages, when asking the VHF to replay GPS data with the AIS flow (see NMEA message here after) then OpenCPN fails to extract GPS info.
    • AIVDM,1,1,,A,13J@HT7000OhVntKCo8001vD05cP,0*34
    • !AIVDM,1,1,,A,402;bCQu`Cep=wgv;jKA5C700l0;,0*3E
    • $GPGLL,4743.712,N,00322.378,W,135614.44,A,A*70
    • $GPRMC,135614.44,A,4743.712,N,00322.378,W,0.0,072. 7,110110,002.3,W,A*3D
    • $GPRMC,135614.44,A,4743.712,N,00SDDBT,24.9,f,7.5,M ,4.2,F*3D
  • Does not support speed setup for AIS and/or GPS. While default speed for AIS is 38.4Kb, and 4800b for GPS. Some equipment like Raymarine C80 cannot send and receive data at a different speed. As a result either you send GPS data at 4800b and receive AIS at 4800, or you move everything at 38.4kb. Would be nice to allow speed setup on both AIS & GPS.
  • I've seen French in the option: I selected it, but my UI is still in English ???
  • Still waiting for Linux Sleep/Wakeup. OpenCPN does not close /dev/USBtty0 when going in sleep mode. As a result at wakeup time USB port changes name and becomes /dev/USBtty1. Further more has we cannot force a specific device like /dev/gpsUSB it is not possible to bypass the problem by manually configuring udev files. Obviously the best solution would be OpenCPN to handle UDEV natively, but as a quick short cut: it would be nice to either allow people to enter their own devices name or to provide some generic names like /dev/opencpn-gps & /dev/opencpn-ais which would allow us to provide a hot-fix by hacking udev config.
This being said, it is a great version . Every points I mention cab be easily hacked by patching your code.

Fulup, you have to restart opencpn to get language settings to take effect. Not all strings are available for translation yet.

You may wish to try and channel some of your AIS/GPS feeds of varying speeds through GPSD or some such deamon?

I obvisouly restarted my OpenCPN to get the language, but not even the main menu is translated .

For the AIS, for what I've seen GPSd does not process them. New 1.3.6 now supports NMEA $IIGLL message, but does not support the same message when prefixed as $GPGLL, which is the case when it is sent as replay information by the VHF (ex: $GPGLL,4743.712,N,00322.378,W,135614.44,A,A*70). The other option is that OpenCPN handle $IIGGA but not the $GPGLL. On Seatalk we get both information, when the VHF only relay second one.
Seatalk ======
$IIGSV,2,2,08,14,27,085,34,28,27,308,,06,26,137,41 ,22,25,050,43*6F^M
$IIMTW,6,C*3B^M
$IIZDA,121643.25,11,01,2010,,*77^M
$IIHVM,2,W*36^M
$IIVTG,000,T,002,M,0.1,N,0.2,K*58^M
$IIBWC,,,,,,,T,,M,,N,*01^M
$IIDBT,24.1,f,7.35,M,4.01,F*22^M
$IIGGA,,4743.711,N,00322.377,W,1,09,1,-4,M,,,,*36^M
$IIGLL,4743.711,N,00322.377,W,,A*2C^M

VHF replay ====
!AIVDM,1,1,,A,13J@HT7000OhVntKCo8001vD05cP,0*34^M
!AIVDM,1,1,,A,402;bCQu`Cep=wgv;jKA5C700l0;,0*3E^M
$GPGLL,4743.712,N,00322.378,W,135614.44,A,A*70^M
$GPRMC,135614.44,A,4743.712,N,00322.378,W,0.0,072.7,11011 0,002.3,W,A*3D^M
$GPRMC,135614.44,A,4743.712,N,00SDDBT,24.9,f,7.5,M,4.2,F *3D^M
As you can see the difference is very minimale. Supporting AIS+GPS directly from the VHF would allow to use only one serial interface. Further as Navicom VHF can receive GPS data in RS422, while sending AIS+GPS(reply) directly in RS232 it significantly simplify OpenCPN installation. Converting RS232 to USB is very simple, doing the same for RS422 requierer some more work

NMEA Debug

Fulup....

Please try to add this debug to opencpn.conf:

Code:
DebugNMEA=999
The log file will then contain up to 999 extra messages relating to NMEA data flow and content.

Maybe we can see what happens to GPGLL. Generally, opencpn does not care about the sentence talker prefix (GP, II, etc.)

Thanks
Dave
