Re: OpenCPN General

Hi

I have recently downloaded ocpn 5.0.0 and it seemed to work ok until I noticed some "text" is missing, no name of towns. I have gone in to chart panel option and ticked the "show text". I am using the "all" in the display category. What else must I do to get full text?
Have a good day.

Re: OpenCPN General

There are other settings like "show important text only" and "show national text" you might try.

Re: OpenCPN General

In the menu on the left, select Charts then vector chart display, and un check important text only. That might do it, if that was checked.

Re: OpenCPN General

Weird experience after updating my oesenc UK chartset: when I start opencpn, it shows only my old 2018-02 chartset as available. After accepting the license agreement (asked every time I start the app!), it says "chartset 2018-02" and 2019-03 are available, but can't select between the two, no idea, if the chart actually shown is new or old?

Tried to move the 2018-02 folder away from the /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.opencpn.oesencplugin/files/Charts folder to make it inaccessible: that made random tiles unavailable!

any idea how to make sure, that I get the new chart segments AND no tiles are missing? Few click less on startup could be also useful...

p.s.: system: galaxy Tab A, Android 8.0, opencpn and oesenc plugin are both up to date.

Perfect, worked, thanks! Removed the old set as well, both from the list in the app and the folder.

Re: OpenCPN General

In case you are using Chart Groups and one contained the deleted set you will need to redefine this group. This is not automatic.

I have downloaded version 5 on my Samsung tab a, and for the life of me I cannot get it to recognize the charts. I 1st downloaded the charts to a micro sd, and does not work. with Samsung's help I was able to get them transferred to the internal memory, still does not work. when I open the chart tab for directories, it comes up blank, and I can find no way to type in the name of the directory. I am using the same program and charts on my laptop with no problem. anyone have any ideas.
thanks,
frank

Does anyone know how to contact the forum manager?

I have tried twice now to sign up, but the promised email never arrives. No, it is not in my spam folder. Yes, it is a valid address. The fail page mentions “appropiate forms or link” to use, but gives no indication of what those may be.

I tried the second time while using the link provided above.

Thanks for any pointers

You don't have to type the name of the directory. Click on the toolbar's crescent wrench icon. You will see a dialog with several tabs. Select the Charts tab. Click "Add Directory" button. Navigate to where you copied the charts. I usually make a directory in the root of the internal storage,, usually called SDcard0 or something like that. Anyway put your charts there. Navigate there with the aforementioned button in OCPN and you should be able to select it.

It is somewhat easier to do all this if you root your device first, but it can be done with an unrooted tablet or phone, yeah. Upgrade your file manager to Root Explorer, available from the google play store. You do NOT need a rooted phone for this app, so don't let the name fool you. You do need root to access the full file system including OS and system files, and hidden files, but that is not necessary for what you want to do.

After you include the directory with your charts in it, select rebuild database, etc and hit OK. It will take a while for the device to do its thing. No need to reboot or even restart OCPN. It should be ready to rock. I use OCPN on the Note3, of which I have four, currently, all rooted, three running Cyanogenmod instead of stock Android. Great system. Just yesterday I installed to a Raspberry Pi, too, and honestly the Note3 is better, more flexible and convenient, if all I want to do is run OCPN. YMMV. The RPi works, though, and is really cool. Having a lot of fun with three of them right now, one destined to be the heart of a boom box for pier parties that will double as a movie player.

I went to the site and signed up, and it gave me a message that I was a suspected scammer and to contact the administrator, and for the life of me I could find no way to do that.
