    part - 2

currently looking at a 48v propulsion system with a 48v generator to use as a backup and a large Li bank X 2 (catamaran) along with solar and wind (both high and low wind generators) use propulsion for regeneration as well and want most of the modern stuff, water maker, washing machine... Currently has 2 refers, 1 freezer, 3 electric winches, A pilot, windless, 5 AC units, ect - its your typical charter boat layout. Will be planning as much of the work myself with a ABC certifier to assist with not dying. Man, is this just completely impractical? I've dreamed of a hybrid system since I started sailing - any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks-J

    Hello,
read that you possibly have a 48v propulsion system?
I am new to the world of cruising though have sailed for years in many oceans, mostly Caribbean on charter and will be retiring to a Lagoon 440 I got for a steal (we'll see when I actually live on it!)
I have been working with a couple electric propulsion companies and have a decent budget to go hybrid. What I seem to be running in to is the issue with 48v. Reading many or your posts it seems that both a 48v and a 12v bank is the way to go.
Q: if you had this platform and all tech we have available today, how would you do this?

told it was too long so I'll go with two parts - part 1

I am restoring a 1978 Mauritius 44. Am always interested in others with a similar craft.

    Hi GrowleyMonster,
I am so glad you posted that you have a Note 4 on OpenCPN as I am very seriously considering upgrading from a S3 to a Note 4 very soon. If you don't mind me asking a couple of questions? It would be a big help to me.

How well does the Note 4 work with the common Android navigational programs in use today, especially OpenCPN?

Does the Note 4 need to be rooted? If so have you encountered any problems with that? (I'm a little concerned about rooting vs warranty on a new Note 4)

If you had it do all over again would you still go with the Note 4?

I have been very happy with my rooted S3 but it is getting old and starting to show its age (like me). I'm preparing for a cruise from Calif. to FL and think the Note 4 would be an excellent item to take with me.

    Thanks a bunch!!

Hey there! Given that you've probably researched a good amount before pulling the trigger on your purchase... do you think this kit would work for a Cal 2-27?

Love watching the progress. Keep up the great work!

Hey there Growley Monster, Underseahunter here... I am keen to see pics of your mods or sketches to boot. I am contemplating a similiar mod to my boat. Adding a hardtop/pilothouse, or some mash up of both.

    Thanks,
    C
