Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.2.1724 (RC1) Release

Directly on the screen when you do open for enabling and or disabling the plugin. I leave it enable.
Regards.

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.2.1724 (RC1) Release

OCPN Crash report:
Win10, built VS2013, resent v4.2.2 code but it's valid also for 4.2 and probably earlier as well.
Not a very serious one but can confuse certain users: When an incorrect baud rate is accidentally set to an active serial port, where outgoing messages are stated, O crashes when tools options is clicked.
Method to reproduce:
- Arrange a serial connection for 4800 with both in and outgoing messages like the uppermost one in the left picture.
- Set the baud rate to 1200 > Accept > OK. (See right picture)
- Start a "Navigate to here" to activate outgoing messages.
- Click Tools - Options. >> O hangs so I have to force it down.

When after restart baud rate is corrected the above actions can be performed without problem.

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.2.1724 (RC1) Release

When I open Settings/Connections in this beta (Windows 10) and click on Show NMEA Debug Window the debug window appears briefly, then is pushed behind the settings window. It's there when I close the setting window and appears to work properly, but it's disconcerting and different from previous versions. In the Linux (Ubuntu 14.04) version the debug window stays on top.

Had something similar in Ubuntu 16.04 but could not document how to reproduce.

Ubunt 16.04 x64 Opencpn 4.20 . debug window opens and behave normal, except for that the pause button does not work (I have never seen the pause button work under any version of linux/opencpn)

Nmea Debug Window, "Pause" works fine in Windows, v4.2.1 and v4.2.1724) . It is absolutely necessary to see what the sentences are. How can you work that way?

It does work under Kubuntu 14.04.....
(When started the "NMEA debug window" is hidden under the Options dialog.)
If you kill the Options dialog the "Pause"/"Resume" button works just fine.
Maybe not what you expect, but IIRC , it's the way it has worked for a number of releases.

Hakan...

re: Serial port hang
OCPN Crash report:

I have reproduced this, and have a potential solution. But I consider it too risky for the upcoming 4.2.2 Release. I will commit it to master branch, and we can test carefully for the next major Release.

I think it would be good to capture this fault in Flyspray, so we don't forget it.

Thanks
Dave

re: Serial port hang.
I've tested and found the master's patch positive. No hangs when I test my previous and other scenarios. I'll now use it while sailing the coming days for a live AP test and revert feedback thereafter.
Dave, are there any special conditions to test that you're considering risky with this patch?

Print screen, and then - paste as new image in gimp.,,,, And I confirm: Has tried the pause button on many different Linux configurations (mostly ubuntu based) and versions of opencpn. I have never seen the pause button work under any of these installations.

On our ARM A20 system (4.2.0, but I've seen that all the time) the NMEA Debug window appears on top of Options, but to Pause will need to close the Options window

Yes, or "un-check show nmea debug" in the options window.

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.2.1724 (RC1) Release

Petter5, don't you think you should write up a Tracker Bug Report for Linux?
If you haven't done this before, register in Tracker, then log in. Then make the report and certainly add your Vote.

I like the "Print screen, and then - paste as new image in gimp.,,," work around.
