Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.2.1724 (RC1) Release

re: Serial port hang
OCPN Crash report:

I've now tested the master's patch with EC...'s and more outgoing serial sentences feeding an AP. I also stressed it a bit by editing options while having activated routes.
I didn't noticed any problem. But, Dave, if you still have doubts I could raise a Flyspray tracker to consider this patch (db6323409dbe...) before next master release?

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.2.1724 (RC1) Release

Dave,

This is a week that I sailed, in Baltic sea, with this beta release (1724). No major problems. No crash.

Just always some problems with the "Zoom +" and "Zoom -". This is due to the use of multiple map sets: (German and Swedish + CM93).

O has difficulty adapted the zoom level, or if a German chart is sandwiched between two Swedish charts in bar charts, or if a Swedish chart is sandwiched between two German charts in the chart bar.

Best regards. Gilletarom

These are raster or vector charts? Or mixed?

Gille,
that is correct. I have the same problem with self produced *.kap files. But we should be happy that OCPN doesn't crash...

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.2.1724 (RC1) Release

On Windows. 4.2 and v4.2.2
I'm using Raster charts (Soltek), Raster KAP Hydrographika, own produced KAP(GeKAP) and CM93 - No zooming problems whats so ever. I haven't tried NV-Charts though. Are they using other format that causes your problem?

Gille.. may I ask where you are? On our west coast?

Dave

Regarding the problem of "+/- zoom" if OpenCPN displays a chart Soltek, may be trying to make a "+/- zoom", or click on a box of NV-Verlag bar charts. In both cases, it is necessary that the opening O card. For this, O must access the NV Verlag dongle (on my PC). This not take some time.

It is spectacular if you ask O to display a detailed chart of a marina. This requires even more time.

Similarly, if you pass a NV-Verlag chart to chart Soltek, O must consider all Soltek charts to choose the one he will display. This also takes time, but it seems that it is significantly faster than the NV-Verlag charts.

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.2.1724 (RC1) Release

Gille.., Dave..
As said, I've the same charts except the NV's and I don't recognize any bad zooming response. Obviously it is some handling in combination with NV-charts.

Gille.. Happy sailing, I'm on the west coast north of Gothenburg.

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.2.1724 (RC1) Release

Dave,

This morning .... wind too hard. So stop one day.

Then I test the plugin Route as Walter Schulpen ask me.

For this test, I had a waypoint to New York and another in front of Brest (France). I have 2 routes in the southern hemisphere. They are not properly obtained with the route plugin. But this does not concern this post. On this subject I contact directly Walter Schulpen.

BUT:

I am unable to operate "zoom -". I get to have both waypoints and a small portion of the roads. Can not display both the two waypoints and two routes. This is an issue for the 1724 release.

Gilletarom...

On the southern hemisphere points:
Are you able to pan southward to show latitude S80, as this attached image?
