Re: Chart Downloader/Updater Plugin

Hello Pavel,

There are two days I tried version 0.4 chartdldr_pi.

Install without problem with W 7 Starter.
Ok it run
I try to download ENC of NOAA: No problem;
It Was not possible to download to the RNC chart of Brazil.

Tonight I saw the version 0.5 on Thingie server.
I uninstalled version 0.4
Then I installed version 0.5.
I again have download NOAA ENC smoothly. (88 files)
I indicated that my ENC charts must be stored in a disk folder D. That went well.

When I tried to download 365 files RNC charts of Brazil, everything started well. But after some time, crash ....

Also, I should have charts that have been downloaded to a folder on the disc D. But this is not the case. There are only a few charts in the default folder of C drive (initialization OpenCPN folder)

The crash report is too big, even in zip format. I can not attach it here. If you want I can send to you by email. To you to ask me.

Best regards, Gilletarom.

Please post the relevant part of your ini file, I don't understand what you are trying to say.
It will look like:
Code:
[Settings/ChartDnldr]
Source=-1
BaseChartDir=/home/nohal/.opencpn/Charts
PreselectNew=0
PreselectUpdated=1
ChartSources=Brasil RNC Nautical Charts|https://raw.githubusercontent.com/chartcatalogs/catalogs/master/BR_RNC_Catalog.xml|/home/nohal/.opencpn/Charts/RNC/BRA

Not at this point, especially when you are not using a version I built myself, the crashreport would be useless. Just let me know if and how often you see the crashes and if they are repeatable, I will let you know what I need to nail them down.

Thanks

Pavel

Re: Chart Downloader/Updater Plugin

Gilletarom...
Thanks. And what you say is that the charts for US Region 02 were NOT downloaded to D:\Cartographie\ENC_USA but "somewhere" to drive C:, right?

No, I said that the charts RNC Brazil remained in the chart folder of the boot folder O.

US Region 02 cards have been placed in the D: \ Mapping \ ENC_USA.

But I realized that the charts are first in the chart folder and then transferred to the final folder then. Probably after all the download have been made correctly and that all zip files have been unzipped.

BUT :

I found the chrtdldr version 0.5 you posted in this tread.
I uninstalled the one I found on the thingie
I installed your version.

At first, it found that some charts RNC seemed "up to date". Those with the previous download was successful.

I had the idea to empty the folder "charts" of the initialization folder O.

So the plugin seems to have worked normally. I could start downloading of 365 charts RNC Brazil.

The 189 or 190 first files were downloaded normally. Then crash.

The crash occurred when the 3366.zip file was loaded. it has not been unzipped.

All other charts are remained in the charts folder

Now, the ini file is :
======
[Settings/ChartDnldr]
ChartSources=US ENC Region 02 - Block Island, RI to the Canadian Border|http://www.charts.noaa.gov/ENCs/02Re...ENC_USA|Brasil RNC Nautical Charts|https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ch...\\RNC\\BRASIL|
Source=1
BaseChartDir=C:\\ProgramData\\opencpn\\Charts
PreselectNew=1
PreselectUpdated=1
=======

The crash is zipped carry more than 700 KB. I can not put it here.

I want to go to bed, now, so I send the file by mail now.

Re: Chart Downloader/Updater Plugin

Gille.. if it crashes on a certain chart make note of it, then uncheck and continue download. Usually at the end you can check it and it will download. Have not found a file that cannot be downloaded in the NOAA set.

If you set it up the same way as now, it is a correct behavior - when you add a new chart source, it offers you a default place for the charts in the OpenCPN data directory. You can change it.
If you want to change even the place it offers you by default, go to the plugin preferences and change it to the place of your liking, in your case probably to D:\Cartographie

Re the occasional crashes, I think we know why they happen now, if correct, only our OS X friends are not affected and we will need some changes to make even the rest of the world same stable.

Re: Chart Downloader/Updater Plugin

Hello Pavel,

Okay. I'm happy if I was able to assist.

Six observations:

1 My Maps NOAA ENC are here: D: \ Maps \ ENC_USA.

When I load the folder in the first tab of "Charts" in the "Options" OpenCPN, that is enough.

The first time I loaded NOAA marine charts, with Chrdldr, so I put "D: \ Maps \ ENC_USA." And all the charts have been charged in this case. As if I had no chart NOAA ENC previously ..

If I put the address "D:. \ Mapping \ ENC_USA \ ENC-ROOT", then I would have had an update charts that I already had in my PC.

In short, I was a victim of my habits. And I will not be alone in this case in the future.

Maybe he should, as with the S63 plugin for S57 Card USA, force us to set the full address, including ENC-ROOT.

2° 2. The list of areas of USA seems displayed twice. See screen copy

3. It is impossible to ask the zone 1. Is it? Is this a mistake? See screen copy

4. For an area as Zone 2 of the US, there are 94 files. Pfuuuu It's long !!!!
To load or update, you must check manually, each check box. For Brazil, it is 365 files. It's long.

Is it possible to have a button to check all at once?

5. The window that lets you select an area or country is not very wide. It is not possible to scroll through content. See screen copy.

Could you either expand the window, scroll through either leave, or both simultaneously.

6. The item "local file Show" is absent from the language file on Crodin.

Best regards. Gilletarom.

Re: Chart Downloader/Updater Plugin

Gilletarom,

There are RNC and ENC regions. I suspect you are confusing them as the same but they are not the same. One is raster and one is vector.

In the list of charts (where you want to check all updated charts at once) use the right mouse button. A popup menu will let you select all, none, new, updated. Also, if you open the plugin preferences (plugin puzzle piece of the tools dialog) and have a look you can tell the plugin to do this automatically for you each time it scans a particular catalog.

This plugin can be tricky to start using if you already have existing chart folders. I will try to write up something that explains how it works. But the bottom line is that it is like all software and cannot read minds.

Hello,

Thank you for reminding me that there were RNC and ENC. I should have thought myself.

That said, when you click on the list of regions, if the display was wide enough, I guess I should have seen the difference. Therefore, it is imperative to expand the list.

In my previous post, I was wondering if régionN 1 exist. I checked the website of NOAA, indeed, it does not exist. So it is normal that it is not in the list.

J'ai oublié de préciser, dans mes précédents tests, que j'avais fait mes tests en ayant coché les deux cases des "Prefences" du Plugin.

Re: Chart Downloader/Updater Plugin

Pavel, Recent Commit 22a1943 Thank you

Add Catalog and Edit Catalog is fixed (roughly the same as default width of Options menu.)
Like the double click to edit a catalog.

Default paths. This makes sense to me. Keeps OpenCPN data together.
I will change my charts accordingly.
RNC Charts C:\ProgramData\opencpn\Charts\RNC\US_REGION02 -Raster
ENC Charts C:\ProgramData\opencpn\\Charts\ENC\US_REGION02 - Vector
IENC Charts C:\ProgramData\opencpn\Charts\ENC\US_INLAND - Raster Inland
Brasil Charts C:\ProgramData\opencpn\\Charts\RNC\BRASIL

Re: Chart Downloader/Updater Plugin

When we create a new group Czech and add the Czech Inland ENC directory, then hit "Apply", what happens is every Chart Directory listed is scanned to rebuild the database for ALL directories.

Is it possible to just have it scan the new Czech directory? It would save some time waiting and the other directories have already been scanned!

Then I hit "OK" and it scans everything again! What a waste.

(NOTE: This is with Opengl "on")

Trying to see the Czech Inland Charts by selecting the new Chart Group. Nothing even with Opengl "off" and after close and open OpenCPN...

Was interested in these charts.

Are you sure that looking in Prague you don't see this? Note that these are inland river charts - they cover a VERY small area. Anything in the log?
