OpenGL & Statusbar plugin

I noticed display problems with Statusbar when OpenGL is activated: the color of the characters cannot be changed and there is a gap below the data (illustration 1).

These problems do not appear when OpenGL is disabled (figure 2).
What needs to be changed/corrected in the plugin (before compiling it) so that it works with OpenGL?

Maybe it needs to enable opengl support in the CMakeLists.txt file? Some other changes to wxWidgets calls may also be needed because they are old and deprecated.
