Re: The two person shower

True, in all my voyaging, I used salt water to bathe in, standing by the stern with a bucket.
And liquid dish soap, as it it foams in salt water, to wash with.
Then a quick fresh water rinse to get the salt water out of my hair, etc, maybe 1/2 gallon or so.
I had fixed a plastic garden sprayer container with a shower hose attachment, painted it black. Set out in the sun to warm up. It held 2.5 gallons and would last a week.

Climb in the Shower After undressing, it’s time to climb in the shower. ...
Get Wet and Turn off Water Once in your navy shower, get your entire body wet as fast as possible. ...
Lather Up and Scrub ...

Re: The two person shower

Aside from taking up space and water, a large shower just gives you plenty of room to bounce around and fall down when offshore in a seaway. I'd rather keep the shower small and rely on using a two person bed, which might be a double or queen, with a slit down the middle so you can have two sets of lee cloths.

Yeah, may as well throw in the hard requirement to have at least a 30 gal hot water heater.

I don’t think we are talking about your typical cruising boat here, nor a shower that will used while underway. Think about a tub in a boat!

Step 1.
My IP460 has room in the forward shower for 3 people...maybe 4 if the girls are skinny.

Re: The two person shower

How about skipping the two-person shower and just go with a two-person hot tub boat. Mind you it can hold many more than just two people if you wish to invite other couples.

The tub boats are available for renting if one desires to try them out before purchasing.

On a large vessel they could double as the tender.

It would be accurate to state that the vessel is a real tub. Literally.

Generally accepted rule of maximum occupancy on-board for cruising yachts:

6 for drinks.
4 for dinner.
2 to sleep over.

Now I suppose that could be revised to include saying:

2 for showering or tubbing together.

Re: The two person shower

'Lean into' the cold shower

Be that a shower of one or a shower of two.

. . .

"Over time, aim for progressively colder water and a longer time. One to three minutes daily is ideal."

Professor of Neurobiology and Ophthalmology at Stanford Medicine, Andrew Huberman, suggests 11 minutes per week over two to four sessions should do the trick.

"For deliberate cold exposure, *it doesn’t matter how you get cold as long as it’s uncomfortable but safe* (temp varies by person)," he wrote on X, formerly Twitter, in 2021. "Most studies were done with submersion in water to the neck, limbs, feet & hands in. Showers & layer shedding fine too but not much science there."

Island packet

Solid boat

We can always hang up a sun shower. Seriously, on my first boat a four gallon sun shower never ran out. Kind of a one at a time deal though on deck. I guess I will be left lugging two sun showers to the wet head.

I never like the dribble that came out of a sunshower. Opted for this and like it a lot more:

Well, most two-person showers on most cruising boats are taken on the swim platform, using the transom shower. Even three-person if you're into that.

But if you want an INDOOR two-person shower, most large cruising boats will do. My Moody 54 actually has TWO showers which will accommodate two people each if they're not too corpulent.

But I much prefer that kind of action outdoors on the swim platform after a nice dip in the sea.

Re: The two person shower

Montanan I am not sure a cold shower is really the point when there's two people in there. I don't even know if it's possible to stand to attention when you're freezing. Still with a bit of training anything is possible.
Crispy Cringle has it right, you're not going to want to run out of hot water halfway through the party.
The tub boats a good idea but you're going to need some sort of tent over it. Unless you're happy to put on some sort of Ron Jeremy show in the anchorage.
Cheers

Jesus, are you Iranian or something?

Rules for more gregarious people:

12 for drinks
8 for dinner
4 to sleep over
3 for showering or tubbing together
