I am not sure I will get this one. They can’t seem to spell.

This is cool.

CHIRP stands for “Compressed High Intensity Radar Pulse.” It probably also chirps.

And the transducer goes on the transom. Don’t ask me, ask the humminbird.

The note that you put the transducer on the keel reminds me of the time this whostruckjohn told me to put TCE in my engine.

Dunno TCE. What Humminbird says they have a transom mount for that transducer.. That doesn't prevent anyone to make their own mount however they will. I've used that same transducer mounted on a tow fish to get better quality sonar maps of the bottom. Here's on screenshot taken on transom mounted transducer. You see the saw tooth lines ie waves affecting the quality.
ps. Sonar target: 1910 sunk freighter in 50m below.
ps2. Humminbird has also other transducers too to be used together with their different fishfinders.

Re: The two person shower

Strangely, I've come across this Elan 431 for sale, it says in the description:

'You will see in the floor plan of the boat, one of the cabins was reduced to create a more generous bathroom space.'

Is this a thing now?

Re: The two person shower

No problem, we have a 2 person shower on our Leopard 40 right on the starboard stern. We’re not that shy, but sometimes the folks in the anchorage complain.

Peter Goss on cruising.

Lots of good info

Doesn’t understand how cruisers are sailing around in flimsy boats. About two thirds through the article

I have not read the posts for a bit

You don’t need that much room for two people in a shower. But if there is not enough room then it is not fun.

Re: The two person shower

It is just an important criteria of MANY.

I wrote this back to the salesman for Jeanneau.

_____

The treatment for these boats in crashes is to glass in the stringers.

This is a weaker system that creates a problem.

It was instituted only to save money.

The saloon looks better because of it.

Technical buyers like me will never touch it.

No layup
No hardwood
Pay about the same as a boat with layup and hardwood

This boat is not for use in the Chesapeake Bay. This boat is a live aboard/ long term cruiser. 60 gal fuel says bay. If you are going out for a few days you don’t need all this boat gives you.

The first thing you need for long term cruising is a boat that will survive a run into a rocky bottom when you make a mistake.

Then you need a boat whose hardwood will still look new after ten years.

No thanks. Take me off your list.

Re: The two person shower

The Jeanneau 55 salesman will not quit, so we will see what technical he provides on the strength of the glue that binds the stringers to the hull.

Knowing just the hull structure IS NOT ENOUGH.

My assessment, he is digging a deeper grave.

Stay tuned.

In other news, I am just totally surprised I had to defend a two person shower. And to one bloke, no pictures for you.

In other news, for those who missed it, the spec list could not be longer. Right now it remains Hylas v Amel with a Farr designed Bavaria ( needing refit for the shower) getting strong consideration. Outdoor is getting a good look.

Jeanneau is flogging himself, IMO. We will see.

Re: The two person shower

Lagoon 380 owners version easily fits 2 in the shower. Very handy that Mommy shower 2 dirty kids in there at once.
