Re: The two person shower

Jimbo I don't think it's a joke.
When we chose our yacht, I took along our pet cat to every inspection. In the saloon I swung that cat by the tail and if he hit anything then it was not the boat for us. Eventually we came across a steel Lagoon hybrid with a log cabin interior at the right price that ticked all our boxes. I didn't even think about a two-person shower. But I look like an egg on legs and my gut doesn't touch the bulkheads when showering so that's big enough for me. Even if my backside does get a few splinters from the genuine wood interior.
Cheers

Re: The two person shower

Having participated in a few two person showers my advice is to get a boat with a built in spa.

Re: The two person shower

Offshore I reckon on two or three minutes in the shower. Two up maybe - at my age - fifteen minutes. Couldn't afford the water.

Re: The two person shower

Personally I have found that most relationships eventually move beyond the two person shower. And before they do, a one person shower is also just fine. Actually, make that 'was', kind of was many many years ago.

You need a cat mate. Can even use the shower while going along. Just saying.

Any shower is a two-person shower if you’re skinny enough.

Re: The two person shower

The OP has a point. There's also other things to consider with shower, not just the size. Right beside the companionway it's practical wet locker to dry weather gear and there the size matter to cloths have ample room to drain and dry. Not to forget good ventilation. That's anyways what I built on my boat, a two person shower/sauna/wet locker. Why not also as temporary sail locker..

Re: The two person shower

For a survey, I asked 100 women, if they liked to share a shower.
The most popular response was: "How the hell did you get in here?"

After my wife died, I couldn’t shower alone, for 10 years.
But, I’m out of prison now.

Re: The two person shower

Sounds like you are looking for a luxury cruiser. Not quite a full on luxury yacht, but not your typical cruiser that emphasizes function more than form.
Perhaps along the lines of Dufour, Amel, Oyster, Hylas, Swan maybe. There are a lot of smaller builders too. Jeanneau does have a "High End Division" that makes boats nicer than the standard production Beneteau/Jeanneau, but I don't know anything about them.

A big shower doesn't translate as a "luxory" cruiser. My boat is 35'LOD, with a dinghy bay. Both the shower and dinghy bay are for function not luxory but making a few things for a single hander practical and simple.

Re: The two person shower

I can tell you the details for all the latest sales for Amel 50 or 64. Have grilled the Jeanneau 55 agent, in two different locations. The chief kraken agent is actually a research psychologist whose expertise is PTSD.

Missed the Amel 50 in Sf

Obviously this is the wrong place to ask this question

I just want all the boxes checked, at a justifiable price.

Swedish and English yachts are more expensive and so unreasonable.

You nailed it though. If it checks the boxes the way the Amel 50 does it is the Amel 64. We will have to see in a few weeks.

The Amel 64 agent took the photos off the net. Somehow he knew I had already looked at that listing.

If the boxes get checked by another boat, “I will let you know.”

Or maybe one of you will tell me where to go, politely.

By the way, I can also take them apart and put them back together. The NEXT step is to get certified so there will be no staring when there is an emergency.

If I see you in the yard, I will tell you what to do politely.

The two best sailors I know both did or currently do that. Captaining a liveaboard is a big deal.

It starts with comfort.

Re: The two person shower

Joboggi this is the right place to ask the question, but you ate throwing out some wild statements. Have you got any photos of the galvanised nails used in Beneteau construction? I have surveyed hundreds of them and never once seen a galvanized nail? Same with the fact that they are not built to last, there are plenty of 40 plus year old production boats floating around.
If you're fixated on a two-person shower, why not turn a whole cabin into a wet room/hanging locker/laundry etc. It wouldn't be hard to do, but you would want to make sure you have plenty of water capacity. I couldn't think of anything worse than running out of water halfway through the fun and having to wait for the water maker to produce more water before you can wash the soap of your body.
Cheers

Re: The two person shower

Spear it animal owned by raff

Check with him on the nails. He had no reason to lie. I confirmed that happened btw with a Beneteau rep. BTW, I contacted MANY Beneteau reps before one answered the questions!!!!

I left the other references

And this is not the local yard. Far from it:

And if you are wondering I do not have a boat at the moment. This is my post heart surgery boat.

I loved my Santana 30 ( not 30-30) and my Ericsson.

This boat is for a much different purpose.

You missed one of the criteria

The boat is currently floating somewhere.

If I get the Amel64 I get the shower and I can trash one berth for the workout room. They say this will not be too large a boat. We will see.

Unless anyone can find me a reasonable priced two person shower.

More boats than you realize sail for forty years with a sub par system or two.

Beneteau punch up the video on expedition Evan’s

Beneteau punch up the video on Spear it Animal

If you want to find the issues I posted. I did the research in the fall

Now it is winter

Soon it will be warm enough to sail, at least where these boats are located.

Allure also fits the bill and is in the same price range. I think I missed the one in Wisconsin.

I am sure others will turn up.

Right now I will get the Amel 55,50 or 64 that fits all the criteria the best. I do like a swing keel on the Allure/Garcia.

One through hull on all of the Amels. Big ups there.

I am right now watching a j 40 that very safely and securely rounded Cape Horn.

The racing sailors onboard know their stuff. I haven’t written to them if it was comfortable. I know that answer.

Better stop writing
