Re: Sat2Chart
Luca,
I also installed the latest Open Object Rexx Version 5.0.0 r12583 and it works fine on my computer so I don't know why yours fails.
You said you can run it by invoking Sat2Chart.rex so I suggest you do that.

Re: Sat2Chart
Any way to get meter as depth unit on the c-map charts?
I export them as mbTiles from Sat2Chart and SAS planet for use in QGIS.
Tried changing the Sat2Chart Depth Units, but still in feet. Navionics end up in meter.

Re: Sat2Chart
Mr. K, some C-Maps are in feet others in meters, I don't know how they decide to use one or the other. There is no way to change it that I know of but you should set the Sat2Chart depth unit the same so it appears correct in the oval for the chart.

Re: Sat2Chart
First, Mr. K, let me welcome you to Cruisers Forum!
CMap- Basic is in feet, always. CMap_ 4D and CMap_ 4D_Extra are always in meters.
SAS doesn't really know anything about depth units. It's just gathering what data it can from the data repositories it knows about on the web. If you want CMap data in meters, I suggest you download the 4D or 4D_Extra versions (I use 4D_Extra myself).
Also, you should be a bit careful with Navionics from SAS. I've found that it sometimes switches to feet without telling you. The only way I've found to check this is to switch between CMap & Navionics charts, & see if the depths change significantly. If they differ by about 3:1, then Navionics is probably in feet there. It generally only happens in shallower waters, less than about 20m.
Hope this helps!

Jon Hacking,"CMap_4D and CMap_4D_Extra are always in meters."
Not true see Marina Hemingway Cuba using C-Map 4D Extra and its in feet...
I'd attach it but my upload is not working.

Re: Sat2Chart
It seems most of the Gulf of Mexico is in feet on all the C-Maps.
I use to automatically set the Sat2Chart depth to meters for both Navionics and C-Map until I discovered many places had feet. I think there may be places where its fathoms also.

Re: Sat2Chart
OK, most of my experience with the feet/meters issue has been in SE Asia, so you're right, I should have limited my above comment. Sorry about that.
But my point still stands: SAS knows NOTHING about depths. It's only downloading pictures ("tiles") from the download sites defined in its \SasPlanet\Maps\ folders. What we see as depths are just so many pixels to both SAS & Sat2Chart, & neither can tell them apart from any other random pixels.
So it's impossible (well, extremely difficult) for either program to change depth soundings from feet to meters. The best way that I've found for telling which units are being displayed is to switch between my mbTiles & some other charts, like CM93, & to compare the depths between them. If there's a 3.3:1 difference, then the bigger number is almost certainly in feet.

Re: Sat2Chart
So... After some digging I noticed that the French and Australian version of the c-map webpage shows depth in meter. And they use a different tile server address.
/maxnp_ noaa_hrb/ VS /maxnp_ int1_hrb/
So change the noaa to int1 on the DefURLBase line
C:\SAS\SAS_for_Sat2Chart\Maps\sas.plus.maps\C-Map\c-map_basic.zmp
C:\SAS\SAS_for_Sat2Chart\Maps\sas.plus.maps\C-Map\c-map_basic_HBR.zmp
It is maybe possible to do in the map settings also, but i didn't try.
And delete your cache in:
C:\SAS\SAS_for_Sat2Chart\cache_sqlite\C-Map_Basic
C:\SAS\SAS_for_Sat2Chart\cache_sqlite\C-Map_BasicHBR
to remove any old feet tiles.
That seems to be more consistent at showing depth in meters for me.
Edit: Yes, i found out that you can change the unit in the layer menu. No need to learn french.
