Boaty - how is the clearance process in Lisbon for non-eu boat, run all over town or pretty compact and efficient?
Marine Traffic shows La Vag registered French flag. Great thread. Thank you,

Re: La Vagabonde's crossing

It is going to feel especially surreal for the LV crew upon arrival.

Anticipating the heavy media coverage and the pressures of managing the Greta message, it will be a shock after the simple day to day isolation and focus of a challenging winter passage.

Ironically, this gift of Nature, will stretch our tight little crew quite emotionality.

I just wonder if any of the crew will be accompanying Greta to Madrid for support?

This is almost like the Mahatma Gandhi movie.[emoji4]

interesting thanks. Had just made clearly bad assumption it was Australian flagged.

Idle curiosity - wonder if it is VAT paid, and how the ownership is structured - but that's none of my business.

I hope they are allowed a good first night's sleep. The pace the last few days has been fast, I guess the boat has been a bit noisy and bumpy.

did the cyclone miss you?

It likely belongs to and is registered to Outremer until its paid for in full.
They are probably buying the boat a share or two at a time.. 64 shares for ownership.

What kind of transmitter is used for transmitting this data (position, speed) and what is the interval of this?

This is a leased boat. In France there is special legislation which allows for leasing boats to pay no VAT. I doubt that it is owned by Outremer and leased out. Most likely this is done with a specialist french yacht leasing company.

I bought my boat new in the EU and did not pay VAT. I had a ticking clock to get out of the EU but no VAT.

I am guessing it is a YB3i Tracker.

I don't know that for sure, but one of their sponsors is predictwind and PW reps that tracker.

you can set it for different ping intervals - from like 5minutes to 24 hours depending on what you want - I not exactly sure what theirs is set to but the update seems something like 10 minutes.

Hi BW,
So sorry to hear about your bike tumble.....hoping for a full recovery!

The typhoon is not due to to arrive near Subic until Tuesday evening and all the models are now showing it crossing about, 90nm further south.

It has also accelerated in pace, so will probably be doing 26km in a Westerly direction as it passes by.

Timing could not have been worse as the Philippines is hosting the S E Asia Games and all the sailing and rowing venues are here.
All the competing countries want to repack their boats back in the containers, but they have been weighed and measured , so not allowed.

Now talk of sinking them in club swimming pool and the larger taking over the underground parking.

As they say..
....."Its more fun in the Philippines"

It looked like an hour based on their webpage. Sending signal out on the same minute, but that minute changed after every couple of days. Probably due to restarting the unit methinks.
