Boat Lust - Is This a Sin?

This is the funniest post ever and the wisest because most things about boats are really about lust!

I find myself looking at others...a little fuller here, a little tighter there, but then my honey of the moment does that little thing underneath my butt when the wind comes along and I worry that no other boat could make me feel that way

We're together for a long, long time - or at least until it doesn't feel good anymore.

hi everyone, I'm new to the forum.

I'm presently looking for my 1st sailboat and the process is quite fun and exciting to be honest .... . the decisions, the viewing .... fun ..

but yes, in reply to the topic, I'm noticed I already desire a fancy 100k + catamaran when I haven't even bought the basic sloop yet .....

hmmmm ..... this is serious ..... :-) lol

well, I've heard the line about .."the day you buy it & the day you sell it" .... .....

& accordingly I'm taking my time & checking these used boats ... I guess ..... (being a pest, actually ...)

the 1st one I saw, was asking $2k, the best action on that one would be to tow it out and sink it. LOL

I've seen 2 kinds of boats so far. 2 classes.
clean boats and messy boats. and this is entirely a reflection of the owners and the care they put into the boats. this is starting to look like a rant already so I best quit right here. LOL

oh .... but I expect to provide good news by next week,
hopefully sooner ..! ... about the new 'woman' in my life ... LOL ...

I'm not sure if lust is the right word, maybe more like ...
hmmm.. what is the right word ... ?

I think that an experienced eye can get a sense of how well a boat has been maintained in about 5 seconds.

most of us don't lust after something that is messy, smelly, and shows no pride at all...even though in the end it gets "the job done"

I was in a new for me anchorage the other lusting at the boats on each side of me (and I truely do like my boat). Later the next day in the late afternoon both those boats passed me on the way into my home port (I had left the anchorage 10 hours prior) and my lust grew that they somehow left a lot later aqnd still got in before me (maybe because I sailed some instead of motoring ALL the way back)!

Times change! Visited my boat last weekend and felt a growing lust build up for the old girl. Plan to give her a fresh make-up waxing along with some new parts to ease her aches and pains. I'm betting that with my giving her the weekend attention she secertly wants for the next month; that she rewards me by allowing me to ride her!

The lust (for others' boats) is still OK, actually fun, after you consider my case, because:

The only time that lust rears its ugly head is when the topic goes to-- If I won the lottery! Then you just have to buy a new boat!

I don't go to car shows anymore, makes me want more stuff. Just remember that a $50,000.00 boat will take you to exactly the same amazing places as the other guy's $500,000.00 boat, he just had to do another $450,000.00 worth of work to get it.
Well, it probably isn't exactly a straight line on a graph like that but you get the idea. Maybe his mom bought it for him, who knows, but he is probably all wrapped up in her strings that it came with if that's the case.

It doen't matter what boat show u go to and what boats u look at u always go BOAT envy of all the others.

We went to the tampa boat show yesterday and was lookin at all the new ones there, and man did we like them. the sleek look and all the new toys on them.

But then i remember'd that mine is paid for and i have just as much fun on it as i could with that new shinny one without all the worry about PAYMENTS or the economy. When money is short and the WIFE leaves me I won't lose much

Well I'm not sure I have boat lust but maybe a wet dream... Allways dreaming about the ultimate boat. The one that if money were no object I would have. ;-)
