Cruisers’ communities in Maine?

We’re on route to Maine for the summer and are hoping to find a cruisers’ community similar to what we’ve enjoyed in George Town, Exuma for the last several winters. By “community” I mean most of the same group of cruisers returning to the same spot every year or so to see and get together with friends. Having access to trails where we can walk our dogs would be a bonus. We aren’t interested in being in a marina. Any recommendations?

There's nothing like Georgetown, but I would check out Rockland. Plenty of local and transient cruisers coming and going, and the town has plenty of shops, restaurants, marine stuff, etc.

Thanks. Yes, Rockland is great for all the reasons you mention. It occurred to me that if there is a George Town-like location in Maine, I might be reluctant to tell anyone about it, at least on a public forum. :-)
