Re: Honda 2000 built in.

Any portable generator is inherently an unsafe device. Whether used on a boat or not, but using one on a boat likely adds to it being even more unsafe.
They are designed to be used well away from...

Re: Honda 2000 built in.

If you Google Honda generator recall, you’ll find this

If you continue looking you’ll...

Re: Honda 2000 built in.

The Honda is so easy to start, and requires the choke to start, what’s the desire for an electric starter, especially when it requires removal of the pull starter.
Has me wondering, do you have a...

If they can prove causation, whether directly or not your Insurence will be invalidated.
However often in the pages of the fine print is a statement along the line of you have to maintain the boat...

Re: Honda 2000 built in.

Constantly refilling the Honda and the resultant small spills had me concerned, that’s why this year I’m going to use the 6gl outboard tank as the fuel tank. Haven’t decided if I’ll just take it in...

Re: Honda 2000 built in.

Fuel doesn’t fall when filling a car, it runs down the fuel tank neck, not fall.
And if you look on the Internet you’ll See that while rare there are quite a few fires.
Most of them caused from the...

Re: Honda 2000 built in.

The worst case for static is dry air, which usually means very cold air, neither of which we will ever see on a boat, cause I’m allergic to cold..
However there were so many instances of aircraft...

It’s those slides though that I thought brilliant, flip two levers that lock it in place if memory serves and it will slide out, on my Coachman, you could remove the door on the side of the...

Re: Honda 2000 built in.

There are, but they also have very open compartments with lots of room and large fans, RV’s usually have the entire bottom open of course, or mine did.
The most brilliant design I’ve been around was...

Re: Honda 2000 built in.

I don’t believe much heat comes from the generator on a Honda and presumably any suitcase generator, however the engine and in particular that large flat muffler sitting right in the airflow, dumps a...

Re: Honda 2000 built in.

Liquid cooling is heavy, complex and expensive, adds another system to break and maintain, and it’s not really liquid cooling. The liquid is just a transfer medium to the air.
A portable generator...

Re: Honda 2000 built in.

A March air conditioner water pump uses an amp or two at most at 120VAC.
However a 2000 Honda is only a 13 amp continuous machine, so take a couple of amps worst case for a water pump, and a couple...

Re: Honda 2000 built in.

Best use I think of the unregulated 12v outlet if your determined to use it is to make it run the ventilation fan.
I think your grossly underestimating the amount of heat there is to remove, this...

Some of us can read and not just look at the pretty pictures.
This is a portion of the thread starting post.

The several...

Re: Honda 2000 built in.

This isn’t ambiguous to me. Permanent mounting by definition isn’t portable.

Now I’m not trying to be argumentative or a stick in the mud, and a built in is fine, just as long as you understand...

No, storage is not built in.
We have several who started referencing building one in, in the thread Newhaul I believe said he is going to in his Lazarette, then we had examples of exhaust systems,...

Re: Honda 2000 built in.

I don’t think you guys are understanding or perhaps you may just not want to.
The title of this thread is Honda 2000 built in. It is not Honda 2000 portable
If or when you “build it in” it’s not a...

Re: Honda 2000 built in.

Forget the DC side, it’s not even worth messing with, it’s output power is almost non existent, maybe 6 amps or something, and who knows what the voltage is, maybe 14V?

Just use the AC power to...

He said gasoline, you said Diesel. There is a huge difference.
Besides it’s pretty obvious that a marine Diesel genset is made to pass the rules, like being ignition proof if necessary, a gas motor...

Re: Honda 2000 built in.

Nexgen 3.5 KW with the sound enclosure is 200 lbs, I believe 160 lbs without the sound enclosure.
Trim wise it affects the boat exactly like one other person being in the cockpit with you sitting on...

Re: Honda 2000 built in.

I would assume ABYC is mandatory, for boats manufactured after a certain date.
It’s unlikely they go backwards, just like all the safety equipment in automobiles from airbags to tire pressure...

Re: Honda 2000 built in.

My 2000 pretty much maxes out at about 100 amps, I believe I usually run my charger at about 90 amps to keep the noise down. A 2200 ought to hold 100 amps without being too noisy I’d think.

The...
