yes converting existing ice box to cool blue system with adjusting spill divider.
I'm looking forward to see how good my idea works in the real world.

Well its official I am the proud owner of a roll of Cryogel-z enough to put 6 layers on the icebox and at an estimated r7 per layer that's r42 insulation so the holding plate system should never need to draw power from the batteries. Hopefully I can get away with running it entirely off half of my solar. I will post pictures of the build when I can . For now I'm waiting for a friend to get the roll for me in late July.

ok what output and what price range?

Btw I did the math and the Cryogel-z with the foil backing by the numbers is r8 per 10mm thickness plus another half r for the foil so total will be R51 by the math . I may just do 5 layers (R42) and add extra to the bottom.

Well I figure 1.5 gallons per hour on the low end would be okay for our needs. More would be better according to the recommended katadyn info. With the wife and I and the two kids we need a bit more than most.

I like the powersurvivor 40e with hand pump back up. But can't seem to locate any used or NOS right now. Anyway I keep looking.

Budget well condition dependent if love to be under 2k, but not sure how realistic that is. I've seen the manual survivor 35's for about 700 which seemed fair but power seems good too.

ok I will look around but don't do the manual only one. manual backup. Is good though.
I may have a line on a powersurvivor35 but won't know for about a month or so .

Here is one on eBay but don't go over 750 on your bidding if you try for it.

ok and yep you won't need one in till you are ready to leave the USA coasts .
Besides if you don't take it it becomes another spare for me.
I currently have the powersurvivor35 and a manual survivor35 ( for my ditch bag)

Re: columbia defender hull #60

I just installed the Cool Blue system, my second one. The first was on an extended tropical cruise and it worked great in all respects. My new one is working like a champ but the test in the tropics will have to wait until I get down to Mexico late this year. The summer is where it will really be tested.

I am dying to see how this all comes together! What kind of engine are you putting into that by the way? I keep thinking about pulling the tohatsu sail drive 6hp out and replacing it with a similar weight and size tohatsu 2 stroke 9.8 thinking the extra power will be nice
