Surprise, surprise! No I have another reason to buy an older boat and refit, or DIY. Not that I wasn't already convinced!

I just had a boatyard replace 3 thruhulls with Groco bronze ones at a total cost of about $1000 including labour.
Lets say the Lagoon 420 has 10 thruhulls, for the sake of argument. That would be $3K to replace them.
A 2007 Lagoon 420 costs about $450K. That means to have the thruhulls replaced will cost you 0.7% of the purchase price.

Unless you include the cost of haulout. Or any potential damages due to a failed thru hull. And as long as you think this sort of thinking was used ONLY for this one part of the build.

AHHH if ya can't replace your own thru hulls ya sure can't complain about the cost !! most of us would buy all new thru hulls and replace them all and do the bottom at the same time !!! just my 2 cents

Re: LAGOONS HAVE CHEAP BRASS THRUHULLS
I would be really nervous knowing there cannot be any unanticipated problems by the time the tide rises. Stuff happens.

Would only be an issue if not competent to do the job. Then pay a professional.

Re: LAGOONS HAVE CHEAP BRASS THRUHULLS
It may be that this is typical of EU production boats. The ISO standard only requires the thru-hulls be able to last 5 years.
As noted by others, its an easy fix.

If you can not replace 10 through hulls for less than $3000 I have just found my new business.
I will have a Sunreef 70 power cat by Christmas.

Re: LAGOONS HAVE CHEAP BRASS THRUHULLS
Here's a relevant article http://michel-christen.com/2T-H.pdf
" ISO 9033-1:1994 standard (the EU standard that Lagoons should be built to) that says: "Through-hull fittings for water shall be corrosion resistant, defined as material used for a fitting which, within a service time of five years, does not display any defect that will impair tightness, strength or function."
