Unless one is adept at the aspects of boats and systems, a survey is a good idea. I wonder how many sinkings could have been avoided if boats were surveyed regularly, like auto inspections. I’ll admit, there are parts of hoses and such that I don’t see often.

And as a buyer, I would never pay for any service performed on a seller's boat. My survey is my responsibility, but moving the seller's boat is the seller's.

Yes, that is exactly how it is going down. I'm not even allowed to drive the boat to the docks. Instead, the broker under the permission of the sellers are allowing him to drive the boat to the docks, at which time I have 1 hour, while it is in the slings to sound the hull and rudder with a plastic hammer, inspect the thru-hulls and rudder bearings and then re-zinc it if needed. Just under $500 which includes a pressure wash.

One hour does not seem like a lot of time to me

The 1 hour is the time out of water to inspect hull, rudder, propeller, shaft etc. Before/after being out of the water, there should be additional time to inspect inside/outside.

Pretty standard for such a "quick lift" here in BC.

Yes, it's the same around here. You might get 90 mins if the boat is hauled at 11am and the crew goes for lunch at noon.

Leaving a boat in slings is a risk for the boatyard, even if they have nothing else to do with the travellift that day. If you need longer than an hour, you need to pay for blocking and supports (another billable service) if not a yard move and storage.

(And, bring your own ladder, if you need to go aboard when the boat is in slings).

That is correct. We already did an in water (Interior, deck and rigging) and have our findings.
