1982 Scorpio 350 in Whitby, ON (east of Toronto on Lake Ontario). $7500 Cdn (~$6K US).

I don't know much about these boats.

It looks small and simple but has a Yanmar diesel engine. (I don't like the fabric choices, but that could be easily fixed.)

I find the picture of the survey amusing being 24 years old. These are stout boats but very outdated having such a narrow beam. They are like being inside of a bowling alley.

Yep, there was a fad for making yachts that had these lines so that owners could go ocean racing or some such. Not many would do that.

Limited internal space does make it more comfortable in rough conditions*, I suppose, but perhaps not the best idea for a liveaboard who pays dockage by the foot!

*I've been in a "modern" 45 foot Beneteau charter vessel in rough weather and it was positively hazardous to go below!

Very nice! Would be good to get a whole side profile shot but as long as the steel’s in good nick, it’s worth the money.

Yes, 1999 is not that old. Would be nice to know engine make, model, hours.

The large windows would hive me pause for extended off shore.

Otherwise a decent price for what should he a comfortable liveaboard cruiser.

Well the design wasn't entirely a fad, there was the CCA rule that drove things too. But I'd suggest that anyone who hasn't sailed one of these narrow old school designs oughta give 'em a try. Upwind and reaching they have a very nice motion. Granted there can be some annoying rolling DDW but who goes DDW?
That Lapworth Islander is a rare boat, I thought, but a quick check showed others for sale so owners must love them enough to keep them up all these years.

Not my style of boat but it looks to be in good shape... basically a heavier, center cockpit Westsail 32. I wonder too...maybe the engine is seized?

Hmm...unlikely. A broker would probably disclose that. And the price would be, what, $10K?

I think it's just a very small boat internally by modern standards with a bit of a crawl into the aft cabin (main sleeping compartment).

The deck might have originally been teak-covered. There will be many leaks in any mid 70s boat unless it's had serious work done.

It's very nice, I think. Worth a look if someone was in the area.

Fwiw, my price rule of thumb for around here (Great Lakes) is a 30-35 foot boat over 35-40 years old in good shape with a diesel engine is under $30K.
Same boat with a gas engine, will be about $10-15K (and will be a tough sell).

It sounded like a brokerage. You would think if the engine was seized they would mention that as not to waste anyone's time. I have been aboard one of these. They are huge inside and make a very livable cruiser which is what they were designed for. Bruce Bingham also designed the Pacific Seacraft, Flika. Another well thought out design over 60s,70s narrow beam design with their boring interiors.
