Re: Mantus Anchors
Looks interesting
I assume from the bolted construction it can be collapsed down like the Fortress.
What is the cost, material options etc

Re: Mantus Anchors
At present, there isn't much info on the website ( MANTUS ANCHORS | REDEFINING THE ANCHOR EXPERIENCE). Nothing about the steel grade, no data from underwater tests, no distributors, no price...
And tests in hard, dry sand say nothing on the setting and holding ability underwater. Wait and see...

Re: Mantus Anchors
yes, the anchor dissembles into three parts. The price will be competitive with the Rocna and Manson Supreme. It is built from A36 carbon steel but the nose is machined out of a solid block, has no welds and is 3/4 inch thick. Mantus will be available to purchase in March.
I agree dry sand data is not ideal, but stay tuned more cool stuff to come

Re: Mantus Anchors
The anchors will be available for sale in March. What are your needs? i.e what size boat and where does the anchor have to be shipped. I can than give you an idea on the price..

Re: Mantus Anchors
It would be interesting to see how it compares to Ultra anchors: Ultra Anchors. So far they're the best I've seen from diving on our neighbours' anchors before and after blows...

Re: Mantus Anchors
Where is it built and where is the steel sourced from? What QC will be implemented to ensure what you think your selling you actually will be selling?
Also, I was a bit surprised that your warranty requires the owner to maintain the galvanization on the anchor? I don't believe any of the other reputable anchor manufacturers have that condition.

Indeed they don't. Anyway, how would you do it yourself?
In any case I wouldn't be happy about an anchor that's held together by a selection of nuts, bolts and washers. I want my anchor to be solid and indestructible.

Re: Mantus Anchors
Well galvanization even though is a good protective coating, wears off with time.
Naturally galvanized anchors have to be re galvanized at some point in time. How long the coating lasts depends on many factors but it is common to re galvanize every 4-5 years if actively cruising.
In USA many big cities have a place that can hot dip galvanize.
We do not warranty damage from rust if the anchor was not re-coated when the time required it. If however the rust appeared prematurely, we would surely take care of it.

Re: Mantus Anchors
I also wanted to address hoolies concern. Lets use a 45 lbs anchor for example it is held together with four heavy hex 1/2 inch bolts. Designed to withstand 40,000 lbs. More than the weight of the boat its designed to anchor. Infect the boat could be suspended using these bolts, or another words the anchor will deform long before the bolts will give out.
Compare this to your cleat bolts, or your chain. If you are using 3/8 chain, we are rated for 10,000 pounds.
There is nothing indestructible, but a bolted anchor is not anymore destructible
Than a welded one, they all need to be maintained and cared for bc they are your most trusted friends.
This one is just a better friend thats all....
