Mantus dinghy anchor too sharp?

Hey
I am thinking of buying a Mantus dinghy anchor but I am a little concerned about that very sharp point puncturing my dinghy, especially when pulling it up? What are people's experience with this?
Thanks, Ian

We havent had a problem with that. I am somewhat cautious while retrieving it though.
We do have an anchor rubber tip that stays attached while stored in the dingy. Mantus sellscthem for 4 or 5 bucks.

Similar to Chris we have the rubber tip protector. It came in the kit with the bag and line.

You could always file the tip down some if it makes you nervous. I like that the anchor can collapse down for storage.

Great anchor. I use one on a 18 1/2 ft center console

Yes, they can be too sharp. Draw a file across the edges just a few times. No problem.

I always keep a crate under the dinghy seat for anchors and stuff. No anchor should be free to wander about in an inflatable. It also supports the seat.

Hey
Thank you for the replies. I was in a store down here in Grenada and saw that the point is not that sharp so probably not a problem (the price was a little sharp though at $250 ...)

Mantus made a galvanized version for $63.00 but discontinued it. I also own this one, and it's a great dingy anchor for $65.00 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have the kit. The point is not that sharp, it comes with a rubber tip guard which I never use on my RIB. The kit is definitely pricey but the sea bag in the kit is very useful. It has two grommets. I lead the bitter end out through a grommet & securely leave it fastened to dinghy. I just feed the anchor rode into the sea bag and the (assembled) anchor fits in the bag too. Nice cause no ride tangles & anchor isn’t banging around in the RIB..

Only a concern if you have a blow-me-up dinghy.
