What an idiot, everyone knows you are supposed to run the screw in there then take it out and then just shove the bare wire in.

Re: Tapping a cable for small loads

If only there was a proper ring terminal.

I run across things like this all the time. The mentality that if it works, and yes this will actually work, why am I making such a big fuss about it, especially when the owner has figured out a way to save some money and a friend he met at the Tiki hut does the same thing and has never ever had a problem with his.

Not only a screw into the cable but uses solid core wire and a wire nut and connects the RED to a BLACK wire.

No problem, it's a drywall screw.

I guess it's before the meter, so it's "free" power?
Ever seen anyone use jumper cables on a meter box, who's meter has been removed?

Re: Tapping a cable for small loads

I'm still laughing. And in surprise - I thought I had seen everything possible in this area.

And the actual terminal is just 2" away!!!
