Re: OpenCPN Version 5.8.4 Released

... sorry for not having been precise - as to the Pypilot plugin, I am strictly talking about raspberry pi 4, buster with flatpak.

Are there any news as to the templates, etc. ...? The advent of wheatherfax/wheatherrouting/climatology, etc.gives m some hope, that these issues have been fixed meantime.

Is there anybody, who can comment on that?

Many thanks, as usual,

best regards, Uwe

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.8.4 Released

Hello Dave,

On my android smartphone, in the "Boats" tab of "Options", the "MMSI" sub-tab is still missing. I assume this is true for all Android terminals.

It is therefore impossible to make our own boat disappear from the display of AIS targets in Android.

Is this an oversight or an inability to make it work on Android?

Gilletarom...
We did not include the MMSI tab on Android since it seems a more advanced function not really appropriate for handheld devices with limited UserInterface capabilities.

Not quite understanding why you might need this function to avoid showing your ownship as AIS target. Can you explain that problem a little more?

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.8.4 Released

I have been on several boats which, due to an odd or incorrect AIS installation, receive and plot their own AIS position. This tab lets you ignore your own ship.

Edit: for example, a ship that first installed an AIS receiver only (maybe part of a VHF) connected to the nmea bus, and then upgraded to a transmitter but left the receiver installed as well

Dave, I see you angry. Sorry. I asked the question here on CR because this was requested on the French website "hisse-et-oh.com".

Wouldn't it be easier for all users to simply disconnect the old AIS connection? Also would receiving most AIS targets two times for every update not increase the performance of the PC running OCPN.

The mbtiles handling seems to work much better now, has that been improved?

Cheers

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.8.4 Released

Hi Dave,

version 5.8.4 works very well on my RPI's with several OS's. Also tested this version from the Debian repository for the Riscv systems. And now it works in the Gnome setup, A bit slow because there is no OpenGL available in Riscv.

Amazing that this new version is at the same date available for RiscV Starfive systems for Debian 11.

Now waiting for a Riscv flatpak version.

Thanks for all the improvement.

Regards,

Bram

hello Dave this year i have a wifi mutiplexor NMEA and i receive the data AIS on my android tablet.

I receive the AIS targets and I find it very practical to see them on the tablet. The tablet is located near the helm, it avoids going down into the cabin to see on the PC
The problem i receive my MMSI it was better to hide my MMSI on the android tablet

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.8.4 Released

Just upgraded to this latest version and for some reason is crashing. I tried in safe mode and it crashes still. Are there instructions on how to run diagnostics to see where the crash occurs?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.8.4 Released

I don't think is related to OpenGL because I changed on opencpn.ini:
OpenGL=0
DisableOpenGL=1

And still crashes in both safe and regular mode.
