Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.620 RC1 Test

Hi Dave,

just tried the latest updated version 5.1.704 from bdbcat/opencpn

First on my RaspiOS on the RPI4. Oesenc plugin works !

Secondly on my 64 AMD64 with the latest Linux Mint version Ulyana (Focal)
and can report the Oesenc plug is also working !!!

Wonderfull this quick action and fix.

Thanks for all your efforts,

Regards,

Bram

I do think that the implementation has changed. Look at this...
Attachment 218709

The circle for "Jonseskär" is situated in the water and not on the Islet.

The little headland Enudden is a split word with a circle under each part, both in the water.
Both the names above clearly indicates land features.

Perhaps the Swedish "SMA" have introduced these changes?
I have just upgraded my charts, and I suspect that Håkan has as well.

Dave..
"Is this anything new?" - No actually not. For a comparison I checked my Android where oeSENC is ver 4.0 and the SE charts are from 2019-39 and the circles are there as well. I just haven't noticed before.
Thomas..
See above about the SE charts and the circles are on my Danish charts as well.
Please explain more about the standard. What are the circles indicating and is there any meaning for us to show them?

So, has any Windows user experienced trouble with enabling and using legacy plugins as downloaded and installed from opencpn.org?

Thanks
Dave
Win10
For Info I for a test downloaded the Status bar plugin that I've never used before. No problem.

P_Dub...

FYI, As you probably know, you are the one user reporting problems with legacy plugins.

What is meant by:
"There seems to be no windows for 5.1.704" ??

If you mean that there is no Windows version of 5.1.704, you are correct. No-one ever said there was.

Did you follow the instructions in my email? Where is the log, please?

"Please try this one NOW, and report the results in logfile."

Please tell us EXACTLY what you are doing. I really need some precision here. A simple statement: "It doesn't work" is of no use at all, and a waste of Forum time.

Thanks for your help

Hakan...
re:

The circles indicate that this is a "POINT" feature. We show them because they are in the ENC dataset. When using "official" ENCs, we do not want to be in the business of editorially selecting what to show, or not. That way lies madness....

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.620 RC1 Test

Trying to import a managed plugin using MacOSX (Catalina). The tarball is greyed out. Is there a way of working around the security? Using the managed plugin catalog upgrading/installing works.

Dave..
Thanks for the info.

I agree we, or O-Charts, should not be a chart editor. As discussed before.

Dave..
One more note on this..
As the initial user indicates are the points related to a LNDRGN-Object name still drawn even if I chose to not show text. Then we have some "unidentified" circles left on the chart. Not very informative.
See picts. Left - text shown. Right - text not shown
