Where do you propose that we get the missing tide station data? We would be happy to include such data if the ownership and licensing terms are compatible with OpenCPN.

btw, I wouldn't call that a bug. Bugs are, among other things, failures to perform a promised functionality reliably.

Thanks

Corrected in Beta PPA as 5.1.511.3.
Although you have probably already manually installed by removing tcdata and GSHHS...

Dave, just speculating, but the Help displays differently depending on how I ask for it. If you use the Menu Bar menu item Help / Help, it comes up in my default browser. If you use the menu item Help / About (or click on the Toolbar question mark) the "About" window comes up in the middle of the screen, and then click on the Help link in that window, now the Help file is encapsulated in the About window, rather than opening the user's default browser, so it looks funny.

Windows 10 / 5.5.511 a1f3b5e

And here I thought the beta was to locate and solve those kind of problems...
Before testing I removed OpenCPN from my system, including gshhs, tcdata and all plugins from GitHub, since the test-case for me is installing without 3rd party packages, including my own.

Well, the new version installs (now). SignalK works, Grib works, the Dashboard works.
I did not see the SignalK output on the commandline I saw in a previous version for the Linux/Intel.

The pluginmanager is clearly not supported for ARM64. The available plugins for oeSENC were ancient, so I did not bother testing. The other plugins (old deb -packages) I also did not test since as far as I know they are not supported with the new OpenCPN.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.511 Beta Test

Had a play with the *.511 beta and mostly it looks good. I like the soundings font size on vector charts.

I had a crash on deleting some tracks .. couldn't repeat it.

A couple of dialogue boxes are a nuisance size:
The "Track Properties" dialogue is to narrow and if resized the size is not preserved.
The "select chart catalogue" dialogue is not tall enough and can't be resized. ( I think this may have been like this for a long time ).

I like the fact that you can set a speed threshold below which the predicted AIS position will be deactivated but it is very un-intuitive. It seems to work whether the "suppress moored targets" checkbox is selected or not. This is I think correct behaviour but there is no indication that the two are linked in anyway. I would never have got it had I not see the post up thread.

Windows 10.

Correct ENC object display priority resolution by natural order.
Doesn't solve issue with grey water.

Moo..
Although the function code is not mine I've made some small tweaks like the speed threshold. I may agree about the not intuitive connection. Would need a wiki description. Do you've any suggestion to make it more clear for the average user without using a lot of dialog space so it still fits on a small screen?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.511 Beta Test

did-g...

Thanks for finding the commit that causes the land/water display problem. I was just about to start a bisect to do the same. Now I get to think about it a bit....
Note that the "grey water" problem is present on OCPN v5.0, also. So this is a somewhat different root cause. Baikal also has reported the same...

Thanks again
Dave

re:

Actually, all older .deb packages (we are calling them "legacy" plugins) are fully supported by OCPN v5.1, in the original manner. The plugins function as in v5.0. They are simply not "managed" in the same way by the plugin manager. They are to be installed using dpkg, or so. Just like on v5.0

For reference, and as a target going forward, what is your test environment?

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.511 Beta Test

The "Show Grid" checkbox feature under Chart Panel Options (lower right hamburger) does not enable the latitude and longitude grid in OpenCPN 5.1.511 Beta Test on my Windows 10 system. Here is a screenshot.

Show Grid works in OpenCPN 5.0.0 Release on my Win 10 system.

In case anyone is curious, the Chart File in the screenshots is \US\US5CA11M\US5CA11M.000 showing SOUTHEAST FARALLONE. This is a small island off the California coast west of San Francisco. The "Show Grid" problem seems to apply to all ENC's viewed with the 5.1.511 Beta running in Win 10.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.511 Beta Test

macOS: acknowledged oeSENC pop-up does not get cleared.
And can't be closed. Will need to open "Options" and close "Options" to wipe it out.
This is not new with .511
