Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.511 Beta Test

cagney...

oesenc_pi is separate from O5.1, so handled separately.
Any more info on the crash?

Dave

Yes ... as it was repeatable.

I uninstalled the managed oesenc plugin and started again.

I have the oesenc deb package installed.

I then used the plugin managers offer to upgrade.
I went through the process successfully.
Then a crash:

Name:	Screenshot_20200518_181517.png
Views:	42
Size:	86.0 KB
ID:	215280

When restarting oesenc did not load.
Killing and restarting again brought up oesenc in normal state with the managed oesenc plugin enabled saying "Plugin is latest available".

Nothing of interest in the logfile.

O is my compile using latest git code available an hour ago.

On the crash:
Check my understanding, please.

The crash was initiated by an upgrade from un-managed to managed version of the plugin. And after restart, all was well with the managed plugin?

On the missing M_QUAL in "User Standard" display category:
Fixed in github now.
Remember to enable "Display chart info objects" in settings->vector charts.

Thanks
Dave

And one more question on the crash:
Was an oeSENC chart shown at the time you did the upgrade to "managed" plugin?

Thanks

Your understanding is correct.

Yes, an oeSENC chart shown at the time.

Thanks

Testing your latest patch.
The shortcut "U" for M_QUAL does not work on ENC, other wise the display is OK for User Standard.

I also notice that "Show Grid" works again.

Thanks

Shortcut "U" should work only in "All" display category. No change there from O5.0, I think. And It is OK for me on ENC and oeSENC.

Thanks

Testing O 5.0 on Ubuntu 18.04.

"U" does work in "User Standard", provided that "Chart Information Objects" is activated. Both for ENC and oeSENC.

As I said before, this is not the case with 5.1.511 on Ubuntu 20.04.

Thanks

On O5.0, in "User Standard" category, there is a strange interaction between the "U" toggle, and the Object selection list. One can get in a situation where the "Quality of Data" box is ticked, but the symbols don't show. This is because the "U" toggle overrides the tick box.

I have reproduced this code in O5.1, will be in github overnight. Not sure if we want to improve the behavior for O5.1 or not.
Comments?

Thanks

Dave

The simple interface for a user would be that the "U" key works for ENC and oeSENC whether Chart Information Objects are on or not.
This may not be simple to code though, and I think that the present state is acceptable for 5.2. Postpone further development and check user reactions, if you feel so inclined :-) .

Thanks for the feedback.
I think I will leave it as is, and listen for additional user reaction.

The standard way to do that would be (as root or with sudo) make a udev-rule

$ sudo echo /etc/udev/rules.d/98-sglock.rules >
ATTRS{idVendor}=="1547", ATTRS{idProduct}=="1000", MODE="666"
Then remove and replace the dongle or if that foes not work restart.

With the managed plugin however this should be done from the script that installs the plugin. I think you can create the udev-rule above to test.

Dave might request later to remove it, to test the installation scripts. Perhaps it is better to include the udev-rule to the sglock-library package as well (and remove it from the oesenc-plugin package).

Confirms this as working.
