Dave
I find the default fonts for depth soundings still pretty large. See attached screenprint. I changed it in the code to 2.0 as follows:

- if(font_size_mm >= (3.0 * scale_factor)){
+ if(font_size_mm >= (2.0 * scale_factor)){

Result looks much better, at least om my laptop (1920*1080). See second screenshot.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.511 Beta Test

The above example was with very old cm93 charts. Attached a screenshot with oeSENC charts. But the depth fonts are huge again and this time independent of the line of code that I changed in my previous post.

Actually, all older .deb packages (we are calling them "legacy" plugins) are fully supported by OCPN v5.1, in the original manner. The plugins function as in v5.0.
..

For reference, and as a target going forward, what is your test environment?
Testenvironment is ARM64 / Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.

Specifically for the ARM64 the older oeSENC plugins don't work at all. If I recall I was able to a oeSENC with a fingerprint again from version 4.2.1. Since you don't provide a plugin recent I assumed that problems with that plugin stay outside of this beta. With only fingerprint-capability this plugin is not going to be very popular anyway.

Other plugins should work, but they are not up-to-date like the managed plugins.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.511 Beta Test

Hi all

As we are back to the sounding text size, which is now quite correct for me with W10:
I set a Linux environment, ( Mint 19.3 Mate ) on my 10' device in // of W10 and I am astonish that the font size is far smaller than in W10 . Furthermore, at 0 scale, the tool bar icons are about 7 mm and not 9 mm as in W10 and as Dave said earlier.
"Enable Scaled Graphics interface" set in both OS

Just double checking, but Is your screen size the same in both OS?

Oups you are Right!
The problem is here.
Both automatic calculation:

W10 version shows 222
Linux version shows 361 (curiously the same value as my 15' device, same OS)

If I put manually 222, I get the same display with both OS.
if I set again to "auto" I get again 361
So the problem is in the screen size calculation.
222 is right so W10 version does a good job,
361 is not completely right on my 15' . It should be something near 347 and off course completely wrong on the 10'. Linux version is wrong

Thanks
JP

Perhaps.

re:

Ahh, but they are.
a) Any linux plugin which is available only as "legacy" style is exactly the same as it was for O V5.0. Thus, up-to-date by definition. O 5.1 did not break any existing "legacy" plugins.

b) Any linux plugin available as both managed and "legacy" should be up-to-date (functionally) in both flavors. Let me know if you find one that is not. As you have discovered, ARM64 on linux (i.e. not official rPI Raspbian) is clearly treated as a special case.

Thanks
Dave

Please clarify...

Are you saying that oeSENC_PI, v 4.0.10, for ARM64, available from the Release PPA, does not work for you using system fingerprint method?

Thanks
Dave

Show Grid does not work. Win10

It would be good for everyone to have a font size setting for depth soundings at least in the config file, as a maximum in the program settings
