Dave,

The toolbox display opens instantly on XP with my own build.

Hi

I have win7 and the latest beta .exe

The Track button does not change colour any more so I know its on.

The 3 new coloured buttons in the top right dont do anything. I've tried double clicking, left clicking, centre clicking etc.

I don't know what the long yellow stripe is along the bottom of the screen. When I roll the cursor over it chart info comes up. But that info is not relevant at sea. The mouse at sea runs over it when I am trying to other stuff and its a tad disruptive

Dave,

I see no slowness with the toolbox display on either Windows 7 or Windows XP. Both are essentially instantaneous.

FYI, build 514 runs very well on the slow (Pentium M 740, 1.73 GHz) XP laptop I use on the boat, even with the entire west coast ENC chart set loaded. Scrolling can get a little sluggish on really detailed charts (e.g. San Diego Bay) with every vector chart bell and whistle turned on, but that's to be expected. Otherwise it's extremely stable and I've seen no crashes with it.

Sorry. Should have been one way shipping lanes.

Discussed in this post:

Weird in this case is that signs and symbols are in a separate file in a separate download.
see:
doris.bmvit: Definition
and:
doris.bmvit: ECDIS Viewer Software
and:
doris.bmvit: Inland ECDIS Standard 2.0
Check the releasenotes on this page.
I have posted a link before about inland ecdis that NOHAL hadn't seen before.
Have to look it up again.
Edit: it's in post #365

Ref post 454: For the record. I tried the same chart in the 136 build and it appeared the same. Maybee the fault is in the c-map database. MaxSea gets around by showing no arrows at all.
In the Primar S63 chart of the same area, the arrows are shown correctly.

These arrows are not the same as those discussed earlier in internationally established traffic separation schemes.
I don't know if this kind of recommended routes are established anywhere else. The routes in Kattegat and the Baltic Entrance originates from the aftermath of WWII, and pretty much corresponds to swept routes for shipping trough minefields. Later when the danger for mines more or less disappeared, the routes remained.
The "T" route is a bit special as this is the established DW (deep water) route between Skagen and Gedser, from the North Sea into The Baltic, but the Danes has chosen not to mark it as such.
These routes are recommended two way tracks, just marked with dashes in raster charts.
For OpenCPN they direction of the arrows should be corrected or, alternatively a double arrow could be used, similar to the suggested new graphics for DW routes.

CM93 is totally confused regarding some aspects of these routes. Clicking "Object Properties" on certain places on the "T"route the dialog comes up with OBJNAM A, B and T at the same time !!!

This is probably a georef problem on the chart clicked. The mark is not being found under the cursor. Does it always happen, on all charts?
You are right Dave. This doesn't happen on other charts.
Now, if I just could remember which chart I used originally.....

Tmerc and Merc charts cannot quilt together without reprojecting one or the other. I'm beginning to think that we may have to abandon TMerc quilting for this release. There are significant fundamental cartographic problems here.
I guess that was a bit of a false alarm - I happened to be zooming around in an area packed with tmerc charts.

Looking elsewhere, reference chart swapping behaviour is indeed improved, but (see screenshot from Brazilian gov charts below, no tmercs involved) I can still zoom in as far as I like (left screenshot) and have to click on the far-left most detailed chart to trigger a new more appropriate chart mix for the quilt (right screenshot).

The reference chart and detail charts are swapped in quite well if they are at the centre of the screen or otherwise once covering most of the screen (when zooming in). Perhaps the margins for swapping the background chart or loading up detailed harbour chartlets could be more generous?

Now is the time to get your ideas about basic functionality into the mix, because we are coming to Feature Freeze very soon now.
Anchor alarm has no sounds still, but I guess that could remain in the Easter egg section for 2.1.0 as there is PLENTY of new features in there already..

Now there's lots of space upstairs, imHo an MOB button would be in order (quite a popular request).

Please notify when the final i18n file is up for translation

It came to me now... Tmercs!
While there is a considerable improvement in tmerc rendering, there are still problems, as marco points out.
There seems to be different problems with different charts. I can acknowledge marcos wpt problems with NZ charts. On Swedish charts the wpt seems to end up in the right position, but it's invisible near the screen edge( within about 1/4 of the screen width). I have only found minor differences i position between center of screen and near edges.
On a Swedish tmerc quilt, I can see one of the charts skewing about 3 degrees when turning quilting on/off.

I think this is a splendid idea. If it were to be shared that would be even better.

I can not seem to make it active...the bar is purple, displays the map info but I can not choose it even zoomed out to the max.
