Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

bdbcat, gille,

I can confirm the buffer problem is fixed (when Options>UI Enable touchscreen interface is checked and with right-click pick center view ).

The new compiled version which is SVG, but I did not so note, is up on file thingie now Gillletarom if you want to try it.

Also the options screen starts following the F5 Color selection after a couple of uses and it seems to work fine, changing with each change in color.

Awesome Dave. Thank you.

PS When the little green up arrow starts following me around in the middle of the chart, I just right click and it goes away.

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

Dave,

I downloaded the version of VN-Verlag plugin available here:
Plugins for OpenCPN 4.1 | Official OpenCPN Homepage

Can not use my charts NV-Verlag. Crash at each test and with all my charts files, even those who have never been a problem.

I guess it would take a recompiled version of the plugin.

No problem with VisitMyHarbour charts.

Gilletarom.

Use of keyboard shortcuts is a complex issue requiring more in-depth research IMO. Several OS shortcuts have appeared in Win 10 for example. It may be impossible to avoid all conflicts but there ought to be a way to make a chart that shows all the combinations and which are already dedicated to each OS, the O core & each plugin. Then it would be easier avoid conflicts. If there already is such a chart I didn't see it anywhere.
TDan,
I agree this needs to be looked into further and developed.
The documentation we have at this point is here:
Keyboard Shortcuts | Official OpenCPN Homepage

Actually, I believe it is accurate now, at least I've checked all the Windows keystrokes (using Windows 10) and they seem to work.
Mac and Linux users should check their shortcuts and advise.

The keyboard shortcuts were arrived at starting with existing ones, and then with input from Linux, Windows and Mac users all while Caesar Schinas was working on the Menubar interface (4.0).

Sometime, it might be very helpful for the user to be able to edit a text file to augment or change these shortcuts. (perhaps extended to plugins too).

I hope some Mac and Linux users have tested all the Keyboard Shortcuts.
Keyboard Shortcuts | Official OpenCPN Homepage

Here is what I found for Windows 10

F9 seems to page through charts rather than shut down O
F9 is chart quilting and it is working. The document was wrong. Control-Q quits Opencpn ok, but I had to move (or F9) down to toggle quilting where it should have been located.
F7 and F8 move up and down to the next scale charts and they work.

Ctrl + does not open options window, seems to be using + to zoom.
The command is Ctl + [Comma] ","

Ctrl N could not confirm it goes to next wp, does not seem to, then later once I picked next waypoint in Right-click, the Ctrl N started working.
Need to get it started first by going to Right-click next waypoint.

Right Click - Pick Center View OpenCPN bombs. OK now
Dave fixed it.

Left Click - No longer centers chart on that point.
I was not waiting for it to center. You can also use this for dragging/panning if you just hold the button down and grab the chart to move it.

For some reason the Green arrows were not showing.
I had to pause for a bit near the edges and it appeared, and they work.

Note I have not exercised all the Right Click selections. All of us should be trying them comprehensively
So I think the Keyboard shortcuts are working for Win 10 now.
Also in Win 10 the "Alt" key now toggles the Menubar on and off which will be very nice for AIS users who want a quick way to turn on or off alarms etc.

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

Dave,

On my tablet, W 10. New install. Erase first all old install. CCleaner.
Then, last compiled version : opencpn_4.1.1317_56b50a3-Corr-buffer-overrun-paste.exe, that I download this day from thingie.

Quilting on, OpenGL OFF. Using CM 93 and Brazil raster chart.

If I change from CM93 to raster or if I change from raster to CM93, then all the rectangle on charts bar change colour. All are black. The only way to return to normal, is to shutdown O and re-run it.

see screen copy.

Win10, Git fetch 30 minutes ago.

The log has a lot of:
Code:

21:36:07: Error: Can't set value of 'HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ICM\GdiIcmGammaRange' (error 5: åtkomst nekad.)
"åtkomst nekad" = "access denied"

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

Gilletarom,
Patch 633 should have fixed the issue. There are now five keys combinations to activate OD:
Ctrl+Shift+B - Start drawing a boundary
Ctrl+Shift+P - Start placing boundary points
Ctrl+Shift+T - Start placing text points
Ctrl+Shift+E - Start drawing EBL's
Ctrl+Shift+D - Start DR process

Esc - this should terminate the drawing process, although not all keyboard interactions seem to be available to OD (or even OCPN). I am still trying to understand why keyboard events are not being reliably captured.

However - under windows this all works, BUT under Ubuntu, these work but Ctrl + b (no shift key) does not hide or show the chart bar. It appears that this combination of keys causes two events to occur, one is the keyboard toggle of the chart bar, then a menu event occurs which toggles the chart bar again, so it never actually changes state. I am not sure why this is happening.

I am putting up OD patch 635 to try an clean up the OD code so that it only reacts to the down key press and not others. But I am still investigating the issue with OCPN.

With "Ctrl + b". OCPN draw set for its toolbar opens when using OCPN Draw

Multiple tests.

The effets seem to occur almost randomly. But still, what is certain is that:
- At the first use "Ctrl + b" hides the bar charts and opens simultaneously "OCPN Draw".
- If you close OCPN DRAW, while the bar charts is hidden, again using "Ctrl + b" bar charts will be displayed and "OCPN Draw" opens.

On my PC, 8.1 : As I said in my previous post, I try opencpn_4.1.1317_56b50a3-Corr-buffer-overrun-paste.

Now, no problem with F5 and F6.

With plugin Grib. I try with the same grib file (3.4 Mb). And with this version no problem with particle map.

Problem with "Ctrl b" not solved.

With the tablet W 10
No problem with F5 and F6.

With the same grib file, (3.4 Mb) : Impossible to enter in mode "particle map".
Then I change of grib file and load the little (92 Kb). Imediatly, particule map go on without clic on "particule map" chek box. .... Strange, but why not !
Then I change another grib file ... 92 Kb ---> 3,4 Mb. And slowly, the particule map go on with this file.

"Ctrl b" : not solved.

No, I try grib sended by saildocs and grib sended by zygrib. I do not thing that all these gribs are malformed.
Now I thing that the problem is that "particule map" require many CPU time. And then ... So it is necessary that, in the manual 4.1, this was explain.

NV-Verlag : No, Only Dave can compiled a new version.

Re: OpenCPN RC(2) 4.1.1317 Release

Gilletarom, Dave,
I have found the issue with Ctrl-b and it is to do with the menu. If you do not have the menu shown Ctrl-b keystroke causes the hiding and unhiding of the chart bar as expected. With the menu shown the Ctrl-b keystroke is processed twice, once as the keystroke and once as the menu item shortcut.

I have a patch for it which I have created a pull for.
