Re: OpenCPN General

It is a text document not the. log or ini file I may add that I did run a portable OpenCPN for a month or so an did find that the memory stick also filled up quite quickly but still did work could this be from that. I don't run openportable now.

Read this:
The AIS name caching can be turned off in the opencpn.ini/opencpn.config file by adding a line like this. [Settings] EnableAISNameCache=0 The name of the file where the list of previous MMSI and ship names are stored is “mmsitoname.csv” in case you would like to clear it. This file is in the same folder as your configuration file (Click the ? icon in the toolbar to see the location, it is platform dependent).

Hakan may have some other ideas why this is happening. I personally think we should find out why this is happening, so I urge you to not turn it off yet, but listen to others suggestions first. (It would be helpful to know how this happened.)

Re: OpenCPN General

Like I said I have another Windows 7 machine and that specific file does not exist on the other pc. I could unistall and delete all associated files and reinstall to see if the problem is solved but then we still don't know why it happened.

Yes that is clearly the opencpn.log file. Is it possible for you to upload a complete session somewhere on the net so we can look at it? There are heaps of sites that do this kind of thing. One that came up in a quick search is https://file.town/.

Otherwise, look through the file .... There are probably some lines that keeps repeating forever..... Copy and publish those lines, please!

Re: OpenCPN General

The quick fix for your problem is to deactivate the radar_pi plugin, in Options-> Plugins.
I'm sure the programmers of this plugin will be interested in your case.

There is just one log-file called opencpn.log. Then there is a backup file called opencpn.log.log. When opencpn.log is > 1mb it will be moved to opencpn.log.log next time you restart OpenCPN.

Re: OpenCPN General

Ivanm..
The log message "NavicoLocate select..........." is from plugin radar_pi, that's correct.
But that specific message should only be shown when the plugin is in a debug message level. That's when the level of the setting in the config file: "VerboseLog" is anything but 0.

wxLogError(wxT("radar_pi: NavicoLocate select %s"), strerror(err));
But according to your log file copy the verboselog is set to 0. Strange!

But anyhow: Please check your opencpn.ini file for the status of "VerboseLog" (Ctrl+F to search) and be sure it's set to VerboseLog=0
Also you may want to update your radar_pi from version 5.0 to recent 5.0.3. https://github.com/opencpn-radar-pi/...ov50-win32.exe

Re: OpenCPN General

Ivanm..
I've learned my answer is not correct. Sorry, my code understanding is not always the best.
"wxLogError will generate log messages independent of the verboselog level".
Until someone can figure out a better answer for the error, it's anyhow connected to network assignment and your network card, please try to update the plugin though.

Re: OpenCPN General

Dave, I have been locked out of the Android forum because of too many log-in attempts. For some reason I have two user names and two passwords. I need access to try to resolve a problem with my android paid version. I see no need to be locked out for FORTY-EIGHT hours! Are you kidding? Please fix this for me so I can get OpenCPN working on my tablet. Thanks, Dale
