It is failing to render a bitmap for some PlugIn. Maybe try to enable/disable or remove/add plugins one-by-one to isolate.

It took a few tries to cause it again. I was using W7, the chart was 11427_1 (Ft Meyers FL), scale 44900, had maybe 4-5 points before moving the route pen to the chart bar and chicking on another nonskewed chart. A dump was sent. There was an earlier dump as well.

It really is weird, looks like it is connected to the program still being in the toolbar's event handler when we try to raise and focus the main window with chart canvas.
Anyway https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN/c...a694ea182abe28 fixes it for me and looks like it did not break anything else. Still don't understand why it does not behave the same under KDE...

What is strange about it? I overlooked the Mac specific code - In case the new change is not going to break anything else, chart1.cpp:2599 can of course be deleted.

I had this problem too. Wanted to make sure it was not my rig so I did a complete uninstall and removed directory. Also deleted config files. Re install fresh, rebuilt charts.

No issues for over a week.

I exited MSVC Debug and closed MSVC, started again after removing Dashboard and Grib_pi. Did Build > Build Solution and then ran Debug. The breaks appear very similar.

Then I noticed that I get similar output (with no break) after clearing the output, closing MSVC, starting MSVC and then Debug, the first screen seems to have similar output even though there has not been a break. I got a copy of that too before a break occurred. I did this after eliminating all Options > Connections.

It does not appear to be the plugins causing this. Hope the files are not too confusing.

The "bogus timer" message, three images attached to your post, are normal wxWidgets bugs. We see them once in a while, and are not an O problem. The assert seems harmless.

My mistake. It was after exiting Route Manager, not options->Connections. Sorry about mis-reporting it. I return to the dock, turn tracking off, and open the Route Manager. I select the track, export it, and delete the track. Then I close the Route Manager but focus does not return to OpenCPN's chart display.

While I was able to reproduce the misreported behavior, I'm not able to reproduce this at all. Anyway, the cause and the cure should be the same, so let's see if it will disappear in the next beta with what was commited today.

If you read which DLLs it complains about, they are VERY deep in the Windows kernel. We definitely don't need their debugging symbols, don't worry about it.

There are always some bugs in wxWidgets especially in the newer OS X port of wxWidgets. Nearly everyday some bugs are fixed in the daily builds of wxWidgets.
So I wonder why in the early days of OpenCPN the decision was made for wxWidgets and not for Qt which seems to be more stable. Well known software like GoogleEarth or special sailor software like zyGrib and qtVLM was done with Qt.

Perhaps in 2008 the QT license was not clear at all?

It took until 2010 - Trolltec had been absorbed by NOKIA - until they released licenses that were acceptable.
Google has no problem with that for sure....

Now that NOKIA has disappeared QT is another time on it's own and we shall see how this will develop. Not the paradise neither.

And as you stated sometimes previously , switching implies in reality a development from ground up. That's not a "Google Summer of Code" task.
And what I've seen from the different forums you will see bugs on all fronts as well.
