Re: Beta Test / Technical

Found the Own Ship GPS JUMPING again becuase LINE 19 AIVDO checksum was bad.

Bad Line (The next AIVDO in order)
Line 19 !AIVDO,1,1,,,B5O9p805ATwH8@vh1B0TEUkP06,0*5F

Fixed
Line 18 $!AIVDO,1,1,,,B5O9p805ATwH8@vh1B0TEUkP06,0*5F*27

Line 15 !AIVDO,1,1,,,B5O9p80005ATwH8@vh1B0TEUkP06,0*5F
checksum is wrong too
Fixed
!AIVDO,1,1,,,B5O9p80005ATwH8@vh1B0TEUkP06,0*5F*27

The file attached fixes both lines, so now we've fixed 3 AIVDO line in total, but the GPS JUMP is still occurring.

1. He has bad AIVDO with incorrect checksums. Why are they being accepted, (this is a file playing in VDR)....

2. Why does this error cause a GPS JUMP to OWN SHIP. This should not happen...

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Rick...

I'll look at this.

But, when you shout all caps in red, and call the tools archaic, and insist that we need this or that improvement to general OCPN to solve a subtle problem never seen before, I tend to re-prioritize and stop listening so hard. FYI.....

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Dave,
Very Sorry, about that. I guess I got into it way way too much! Not intended to point at someone or shout. Just got into the hunt so to speak. Hope you don't reprioritize, because it might also fix part of a similar problem I had with gps jumping last summer, but I did not have AIS in the data stream, it was instruments.
I hope to look into those files that I saved next, to see if I learn anything.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Sean... and All...
I've just built and tested a longed-for fix from Sean called:
Merge pull request #921 from seandepagnier/fix_predictors

Now a course predictor is shown even when the actual target, or the end point, is not visible on screen.

Many thanks
Håkan

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Very Nice, Sean. Thanks Hkn

I have this question from the website. What should I tell Rex Lin?
Quote:
Dear Sir,
I have a question, does OpenCPN has follow and able to convert S-52 color tokens?
I have tried to DAY, DUSK & NIGHT mode, I found it does not really follow S52 color token.
So, does openCPN follow and able to convert S-52 tokens?
Thanks.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Rick...

OCPN intends to follow S52PLIB color presentation.

If there are deviations, we would like to know about them, in enough detail to duplicate and resolve.....

Thanks
Dave

Dave..
Today's pull from master. Win10 VS2013
The new default own ship symbol is much better since it's now dependent of the zoom level. Until now I've used the scaled symbol for the same purpose.
But the scale bitmab symbol is now destroyed and not useful. Scale vector symbol is still OK. Do we really need the scale bitmap symbol. Could it be removed?

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Personally I made many bitmat Shape vessel and I would like this to be kept in the program. They look much bether than the one in the program and are scalable.
Best Regards.

Testing on Linux I have the impression that the default Own Ship Icon behaves just the same. The big difference is that it's much smaller, as are the AIS targets. The real scale bitmap just needs to be fixed, not removed.

With the current git, the time to start OpenCPN is much faster. It probably starts in just about half the time of 4.8.0 on my box.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Tide Icons - The better tide icons are good. I seem to be having trouble getting the graphics to come up in all instances. Some work, but others don't, when you right_click on the center of the image.

https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...and_currents&s[]=tide

It would be nice to remember the location and position & size of these popups, within the opening-closing period.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Hi all,

New to the forum, not new to OpenCpn. I hope I post in the right part of the forum. If not, please correct, please indicate how to correct.

I keep having an issue with the installation on my MacBook. It started in September this year. In July, after downloading sources and compiling the watchdog plugin ofr the Macbook. It worked fine. However, ... in September I noticed my OpenCPN on my Mac is n't playing any sound any more. When trying to play the test alert sound, i get the spinning wheel, and have to force quit opencpn. Tried a few things:
1. remove opencpn.ini
2. remove navbobj.xml / changes
3. remove 4.6.1 install 4.8.0

Though so far no luck. Keep on getting that spinning wheel. I do have error reports after the crahs occurs. More than willing to share them fo find a proper solution to get the installation on my mac going again. Is there any one who could help?

Kindest regards,

Werner Toonk

Do you have sound files located in a directory similar to this?
C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN\sounds
Mac would be different path.

When you set the sound alarm and pick an alarm path to the sounds, what happens when you pick test?

Are you sure your sound drivers are ok?

A Mac OS has absolutely nothing to do with Windows. Please do not confuse Mac people with your Windows knowkedge.
Mac OS does not have "sound drivers" like Windows. The sound files are located at /Applications/OpenCPN/Contents/SharedSupport/sounds/.
It might help however if wernertoonk send us his logfile found at the location indicated in the window opened by click onto the interrogation mark icon of the OpenCPN toolbar. The logfile of OpenCPN exists for Mac as well as for Windows, Linux and other OS capable of running OpenCPN.
